when i get Bored I review, not for the money but for things that usually dont attract much attention or are misunderstood by their interpretors. Mostlikely reviewing horror/comedy/cult movies and hardcore/punk/metal releases.

In 2007 Michael Haneke released a movie "Funny Games u.s." to make one thing clear from the beginning this is not the same movie! It s way better... One of the biggest obstacles for an English audience could be the german language although subtitles are available. Maybe that's the reason why Michael Haneke decided to make his "us" version? Who knows, anyway, the german language for me aint an obstacle (living in Belgium near the German border) so I could fully enjoy this quite unique fimexperience. The two main charactersPeter and Paul are two at first sight very decent and civilized young man who come over to ask for some eggs. OUt of this simple ordinary fact Michael Haneke succeeds in making a movie that's one of his kind. The two young friends start to terrorize the bourgeois family and what makes this movie so interesting for me was that contrary to other similar movies in this flick the consequences for the victims are in the spotlights. An intersting point of view but nevertheless a difficult psychological movie to understand. As a spectator you get sucked into the story and almost esperience the mental torture excerised by PEter and Paul in real life. The original point of view and the psychological consequenses for the viewers make this movie so special. How an everyday situation can turn into a complete nightmare, where every choice has a consequence. The last ten years more movies have worked with this theme (Saw as one of the most well known) but this flick has the honour to be the first in the history of filmmaking to do so. Michael Haneke delivered a great movie, that needs to be seen. Especially if you liked the american version.
The movie was selected in the competition in Cannes in 1997, it won the french press price in 1997, got the price from the international filmcritics in 1997 and Michael Haneke got the award of best director on the movie festival of Chicago.
