Hello and welcome to the review that should have been here. It was here but its not here now as I have taken it and put it into my private stash somewhere else. It may well appear somewhere else online and if it does it will have my name on it. Thank you to everyone, to all the people in my COT over the years who have stuck by me and who have been great influences over the reviews I have written. It is indeed a sad ... ...a review on which makes no sense at all when the original content should be listed and frankly because of endless problems with Ciao I no longer have the time and energy to carry on. Each time I tried, it didn't work. Each message I sent to other members, they didn't appear. Each rate I applied, it didn't show. So that's the end of it. Ty for reading. One last thing...enjoy yourself and dont make the internet your life...go out and have fun! ...

...Jim Carey's latest effort - Fun with Dick and Jane.
The film focuses on the Dick Harper (Jim Carey) and his wife Jane Harper (Jane Harper), who have it all, a cute child, new large house and maid to look after the house & child and a nice BMW on the drive. Jane works as a PA (a job which she doesn't overly) and Dick for a large power supply firm. The main plot starts when dick gets promoted to Vice President of Communication (thus realising his ... ...spend more time with their child. What Dick doesn't know is that he has only been promoted to act as the fall guy on the US equivalent of the 'Money Programme', as, unknown to him, the company chief executives have been falsifying the accounts to raise the share prices. As he gets quizzed about why the bosses have sold off their shares the shares price slumps to nothing and the company goes bust, leaving the Harpers financially high and dry.

Advantages: Great for 12 year old boys Disadvantages: Poor attempt at satire, just doesn't work.
Dick Harper suddenly finds himself unemployed after being fairly high up in the pecking order in a big company. He has to find a way to survive and maintain his life style. So, in cahoots with his wife, Jane, he plots his revenge on the CEO who was responsible for the circumstances that led to his job loss. They start on a comical, somewhat slapstick campaign to follow in the footsteps of a comedy Bonnie and Clyde and go on the rampage. First its ... ...graduate to richer pickings.
This is a very poor remake of the 1977 version of this film which starred George Segal and Jane Fonda. This doesn't work as black comedy as it is meant to be and it isn't clever enough to be a farce. It ends up as a badly tacked together collection of slapstick comedy woven around Jim Carrey and his amazing ability to pull ridiculous faces. There is a quite bizaare fascination with grass and lawns in this film. The 'joke' ...

...Fun With Dick and Jane, made in 1977 is the original of the recent remake starring Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni. This version stars George Segal and Jane Fonda in the title roles of, erm, Dick and Jane, who are a fairly rich, middle class suburban couple, to whom appearances are everything. So when Dick loses her job and it is revealed that he is teetering on the edge of a big pile of debt, they start to try and live as frugally as possible, in order to make ends meet. Dick starts to collect benefits, and then fiddling the unemployment agency by working (in the cast at the opera), whereas Jane uses her assets and takes a 'modelling' job, and then asks her parents for a loan, and both ventures have disastrous, but amusing results.
Then the two go and apply for a loan, and just as the manager hands over their £1000 dollars, some robbers burst...

They have a nice house in a development, she works as a travel agent to supplement his white-collar income, and their son's first language is Spanish thanks to spending so much time with nanny Blanca (Gloria Garayua). Things change in the blink of an eye when Dick is promoted to vice president of communications at Globodyne, where he has worked for years. His first order of business: to appear on a popular news show about business and money and lend his magic touch to news of Globodyne's earnings. But Dick doesn't know that Globodyne is about to tank, and in the midst of his interview the situation goes from bad to horrendous and he becomes the scapegoat. In the blink of an eye he is unemployed, his pension is bust, and he can't find a job to save his life. Their front lawn is even repossessed. To make matters worse, Jane quit her job as soon as Dick was promoted, their house has lost value, and their savings was in Globodyne stock. Months later the Harpers find themselves in increasingly dire straits. They resort to paying their nanny with appliances, selling all of their possessions and are facing foreclosure on their house when Dick has a brainstorm: he'll start to steal. Jane joins him, and soon the duo is dressing in elaborate costumes and robbing local businesses and homes. When their final job goes bust, they decide to go for the big heist: scamming Globodyne president Jack McAllister (Alec Baldwin) out of his stolen fortune. Dean Parisot ('Home Fries') directs this remake of the 1977 film of the same name, which has been cheekily updated to incorporate the phenomenon of white-collar crime. Richard Jenkins and Carlos Jacott round out the cast.
