Just as they're putting in a new pool at the house that has sunk them deep into debt, Dick is fired from his high-paying job as an executive. Housewife Jane isn't too worried at first, figuring she'll go to work and they'll just tighten their belts for a while, but it quickly becomes apparent that Dick's unemployment isn't going to go very far, and she isn't really good at anything besides spending. So when Jane inadvertently gets away with stealing $2,000, the entrepreneurial spirit takes over and the two come up with a new solution: they'll steal the money they need to live on. There's only one thing they didn't count on: being a robber is actually hard work!

In need of a bit of light entertainment and a good laugh I spotted this film and as it was so cheap and sounded good I thought I would give it a go. Jim Carrey is quite god in other films which I have seen him in so I was expecting good things from this.
Jim Carrey plays the role of Dick who is married to Jane and they have a son. He is working for a massive corporation and things are going great for them, they have just moved into their new home and getting it all set up to how they like and when news come home that Dick gets a promotion he tells Jane to give up her job so she can spend more time with their son.
Dick is in for a massive shock on his first day in his new managerial role as he is thrown onto live television to talk about the company stock and shares when the company suddenly falls into trouble and Dick is left ...
Advantages: Jim Carrey, something to smile about Disadvantages: bit average, not all that funny.
I've always been a big fan of Jim Carrey but over recent years his standards have dropped. Since Bruce Almighty and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind it's like he's just accepted every character role that's been thrown in his direction no matter how bad they are. Thankfully the release of Yes Man has proven that he can sometimes still make a good film turn into a great one! Unlike this one, another of his sub standard movies to add to his collection.

Their son Billy who speaks more spanish than english thanks to their maid, well paid jobs, flash car, living in an up market area with neighbours who clearly look down their noses at anybody who doesn't have as much money as they do ...
Fun With Dick and Jane, made in 1977 is the original of the recent remake starring Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni. This version stars George Segal and Jane Fonda in the title roles of, erm, Dick and Jane, who are a fairly rich, middle class suburban couple, to whom appearances are everything. So when Dick loses her job and it is revealed that he is teetering on the edge of a big pile of debt, they start to try and live as frugally as possible, in order to make ends meet. Dick starts to collect benefits, and then fiddling the unemployment agency by working (in the cast at the opera), whereas Jane uses her assets and takes a 'modelling' job, and then asks her parents for a loan, and both ventures have disastrous, but amusing results.
Then the two go and apply for a loan, and just as the manager hands over their £1000 dollars, some robbers ...
