Advantages: Fun and exciting to watch and will keep you on edge of your seat Disadvantages: Bit too long to get rescued
...A climatologist tries to work out a way to solve the global warming problem. When an ice shelf suddenly breaks off and falls into the ocean during a routine dig from the climatologists, the global warming takes a turn for the worst. The world soon turns into the next ice age, with devastating effects.
The climatyologist, called Jack Hall (played by Dennis Quaid) goes on a mission to save his son sam Hall, from death (played by Jake Gyllanhall), by treking across the frozenlands of New York city.
This film encompases excitement and adventure for all the family, it has, in my eyes, become the 'Armegedon' of ice.
If you like this film you may also enjoy: Armegedon, Twister, Dantes Peak.

Advantages: Fantastic special effects Disadvantages: Not gorey enough for some people
...or that it just wasn't that good, but after talking to numerous people who have seen the film I have noticed that it is the people who are into Horror films and gorey stuff who dislike it. Perhaps it is becouse they go in to the film with the wrong expectations.
Pitch black is a Sci-fi thriller not a horror and you shouln't go into the movie expecing otherwise.
To enjoy the film at its best don't find out too much about the plot, in fact you may want to stop reading here.

..., Quoyle finds his paternal aunt, Agnes (JUDITH DENCH) at his doorstep. She convinces Quoyle to let her view the ashes of her half-brother, and then to return to the land of their ancestors, NEW FOUNDLAND, with her and begin a new life.
The new life awaiting them in the cold, frozen climate of New Foundland is completely different than anything Quoyle has ever know. The old homestead seated on a seaside cliff holds many ghosts and memories. The lifestye of the people are different from any he has known and he sets out to get a job at the local newspaper, reporting the SHIPPING NEWS. The paper is owned by JACK BUGGIT (Scott Glenn). Qyoule and his daughter meet Mavey (JULIANNE MOORE) and her son, and eventually begin a friendship.
Although I am not a professional movie critic, I found this movie very slow moving although somewhat...
