Meet my Friends.......for a second time.
The second season of Friends is probably one of my favourite seasons. In the first we were introduced to the characters and started to learn about them but in this season they really start to develop and grow into their characters and we learn more about their lives and how they want to live them. To recap the six friends in question are:
Monica - she's a chef and works in a restaurant. She is extremely tidy and likes everything in her apartment to be just so and god help you if you make a mess in there. She's very controlling but also very loyal. Brother is Ross.
Ross - he is a palaeontologist (a dinosaur man) which he gets take the mickey out of quite a lot. He also has no luck with women. His first wife turns out to be a lesbian who is raising her son with her partner Susan. Ross goes on to have a few more divorces in the series but eventually ends up with his true love.
Rachel - a spoilt little rich girl who lives of her daddy until she moves in with Monica and decides to live by her own means. She gets a job working in the coffee house that they frequent (Central Perk) and eventually ends up working in fashion. She's very loveable but still keeps some of her spoilt tendencies.
Chandler - Chandler lives in the apartment across the hall from Monica and Rachel. He has a job that no one really understands what he does apart from inputting numbers into a computer. He is the funny one and is known for his jokes.
Joey - Joey lives with Chandler and is a stud. He has amazing luck with women because of his charm and due to the fact that he is an actor on a soap opera. He is a love them and leave them kind of guy though and a bit dim so not someone that is really ever going to settle down.
Phoebe - Phoebe is the ditzy one who has had a lot of trouble in her past, mother killed herself, father left, she lived on the streets. She is very kooky and weird but in a funny way. She plays guitar at the Central Perk and has some very weird and wonderful songs and also works as a masseuse too.
At the end of the first season Rachel finds out that Ross has true feelings for her, will they get together in season 2. A lot of this season is actually taken up with this storyline and is very funny in parts. You are willing them to get together but generally something or someone is usually standing in their way. Probably the two episodes in this season that show the storyline the best are:
The One where Ross finds out
and
The One with the List - Ross constructs a list to choose between two people but it causes offense.
My all time favourite episode is in this series too, The One with the Prom Video which is a flashback to ten years ago and their senior prom. Monica, Rachel and Ross and dress up in 80's classic gear and it is hilarious! The ending of this episode is so great and has the audience cheering which I love.
Monica has a serious relationship in this series, with Richard, a friend of the family and a good friend of her father who is closer to her father's age than her age.
Joey gets his famous role as Doctor Drake Ramoray in Days of Our Lives (an actual soap opera in America and one of my favourites as well incidentally!) He starts to come alive as an actor and gets a bit of a big head but is still the same Joey that we know and love.
This season also has a lot of guest appearnces which are always quite funny because they show some of your favourite actors in different situations than you usually find them in. Guests who make appearances include Julia Roberts, Charlie Sheen, Brooke Shields and Chris Isaak.
This DVD was released in October 2004 and includes 3 discs with episodes on.
