I absolutely love Friends, an American comedy which started in 1994. I didn't watch it back then but one day started and have since watched every single episode...several times!
Created by David Crane and Marta Kaufmann, Friends tells the story of 6 friends who live in New York. The 6 friends, Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), Monica Geller (Courtney Cox Arquette), Phoebe Buffet (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) are fantastic actors who make the comedy believable and fun.
Ross and Monica are brother and sister. Ross and Chandler have known each other since school as have Monica and Rachel. The girls also know Chandler through Ross. At one time or another, all of the friends have lived in Monica's apartment which is famous for being painted purple and for having a photo frame on the door.
The series lasted 10 years and there are episodes in every season which will bring tears to your eyes and which will make you laugh out loud. You will also love and sing along to the show's soundtrack of 'I'll be there for you' by the Rembrandts - a fantastic song!!
I cried a lot at the last episode of Friends as many people I know did, in my opinion primarily because the more we watch a TV programme, the more attached it is possible to become to its characters and so as they have babies or get married or get their hearts broken, we feel as if, to a certain extent, we experience their feelings also. I genuinely believe the writers of Friends have written such good scripts and the actors have played their scenes so well as to allow us to be drawn into the episode to feel like a friend amongst the characters.
I have watched so many of the episodes several times over and I never tire of them! Tears still spring to my eyes when I watch certain episodes! I even heard my Dad, who hates American comedies laugh at Friends, so in my eyes, it's gotta be a winner!
