When starting to write a review, I normally start by displaying the disadvantages of the product, however a slight problem has occurred, I can’t find any! I have been a fan of the show since is first appeared on our screen in 1994, the show offered many things for many people and soon became a hit. I was collecting videos from then on from charity shops, old video shops, basically anywhere I could find them cheaper as there was a lot to collect.
Everyone needs friends! Friends is the story of 6 very different people growing up together in New York City. All the characters are completely different, and you find yourself relating to at least one of the characters. The characters are:
Rachel green: Played By Jennifer Anniston. Rachel is a spoilt little rich girl who just recently moves to the big city, after deciding not to marry a man her father likes, she finds her life changing. She has to give up her daddy’s credit cards and get a job! After deciding not to marry Barry at the altar, she seeks comfort in her old school friend Monica Geller, Rachel is a fun loving girl and her life changes dramatically through the show! And we get to see how’s she’s changed!
Monica
Geller: Played by Courtney Cox All through I love all of the characters; I have to say I prefer Monica more. I can really relate to Monica which is always every enjoyable. The girl has obsessions, although mine isn’t cleaning, it’s nice to see them give her that character. Monica plays a chef, cooking food as she can’t eat it. Monica in high school used to be overweight, and used to be able to kick her Brother Ross’s ass at wrestling. Within the 10 series you will see them wrestling, competing as they are very competitive with each other! It’s great!
Ross Geller: David Schwinner Ross Geller is Monica’s older brother, and to be honest a geek! He’s a palaeontologist, who loves dinosaurs, marries a lesbian, marries a control freak, and then Rachael. You see this guy getting divorced many times, and the humour subjected around this really is hilarious, Ross is very unlucky I love, but he does find true love finally with Rachel after they have a baby together.
Phoebe Buffay : Lisa Kudrow The weird and wonderful phoebe who believes furniture has feelings! You have got to love Phoebe, she’s the girl who will stand up for what she believes in, and not care what other people say. Phoebe is a masseuse and a guitar player. However some of the things phoebe decides to sing about are a little different then other people, E.G smelly cat and my mum’s suicide. Phoebes not afraid to be herself, which is why I see her as a great role model, who gets what she deserves when she marries her true love Mike Hanningan
Joey Tribbani: Matt LeBlanc Joey is a ladies man, and proud of it. The poor bloke, however is not very smart, and a very bad actor. He dreams of being in big jobs, his dream is nearly reached when he was given a part on the popular show “days of our lives” until he gets fired for lying in a interview. Joey is completely loveable, and a big babe. He is the only son out of 8 children and takes very care of his sisters.
Chandler Bing: Matthew Perry Last but not least you have Chandler Bing. Chandler is a very sarcastic guy, who loves to pull loads of jokes. He has a boring job, which is why he feels like he has to express himself, no one can ever recall what his job is! He always lightens up every situation with snappy jokes, I’m glad when he marries his love Monica Geller
After listening about the characters, if you still don’t find them completely loveable look how other people have found them! Friends won a golden globe, another 55 awards and 162 nominations! This show was always descent to do well here in England, as the show is American because we love humour.
This box set is completely for everyone, after buying the set I had about 10 people requesting my video tapes! The show is for people who love to sit down and just forget about everything and laugh! The set has 20 discs altogether, which I will say are horrible for cleaning. Even through I’m careful they always seem to have fingerprints on them, unless someone is sneaky using them! They are that great!
However I will warn you that there weren’t a lot of special features that I thought they would have had. The extent of the special features reached to the music video “the Rembrandts I’ll be there for you” the shows theme tune and brief documentary about series 4! This was the only flaw I found with the box set.
I bought this as a treat to myself at Christmas time from the website play.com, and I paid £120.99. Which you may probably find too expensive, however I would advise people to buy it! The show is completely remarkable, and will leave you with hours of smiles whenever you decide to place one of the DVDS in the player! The show is like chewing gum for you eyes, you just keep chewing!
