hormones racing through their veins, are ready to lead guests in summer Kumbayas and games. But there's one game you won't find in the camp's guidebook. Someone likes to play Kill the Counsellor.Every movie fan knows that the monster always returns, and no film series (9 sequels - and perhaps more to come) proves that better than the one that debuted with this shocker. He lives, they die. The he is Jason (who gets a big assist in his first movie from dear old Mom). And they are the young hotties (including Kevin Bacon) doomed to discover Friday the 13th is the unluckiest day of all. But not for horror fans.

If you're a fan of horror, then you will love this film. It is scary and it is jumpy. I recall 'jumping' out of my seat once, and it was a jump at that. Everything's quiet and calming down and boom, sharp loud sound effects and a machete out of no where and I was in the air!
This film shows you where Jason finds his classic mask, and he again uses his machete as his primary weapon, however I must tell you that during the movie he also uses a Bow and arrow to kill a certain person on a boat and it was so cool!
Also, when this film starts you settle into all the characters and their story etc.. but then within 10 minutes pretty much all of them are dead, so your like.. "A 10 minute film!? What!?" But then later you find out that was just the introduction and two new storylines unravel around you and you then settle into two new different storys that bump into each other along the way.
I loved this film. The story was good, a man looking for his missing sister while being hunted by Jason. The performances by the actors and actresses were good too, you got a real sense of fear off them and everything just worked perfectly. Special effects were great, it really looked like that poor woman got a machete in the head!, and a poor woman burning :(

be a new DVD version soon if not already.
The film begins in 1958 at Camp Crystal Lake Summer Camp, and just as two young camp guides begin to get intimate, they are killed off in your average horror movie way. Flash forward to the present day - Friday June 13th that is - and we witness a girl named Annie on her way to work at the Camp as a cook for the summer. Needless to say, she passes through a town full of stereotypically creepy inhabitants, who warn her to stay away from the place they call "Camp Blood". This is because a young boy drowned in the lake in 1957, not to mention the two murders the year after. Meanwhile, five other workers, including Kevin Bacon, also find their way there for the summer, and begin to have fun in the lake etc. However, when stormy weather kicks in (well what else were you expecting?), they begin ...
Advantages: Astonighingly shocking camera angles, excellent eery music score and one of the most memerable horror endings in film history!!! Disadvantages: Cheap and sleazy but why should that put you off.
During the eeryness of the Hitchcock era many were so overwhelmed with terror and admiration for films such as psycho that film makers started making a similar film genre to that of psycho, the birth of the teen slasher film genre.Along came John Carpenters legacy of brilliance with films such as assault on present 13 and the thing all dominated by an excellent music score he made one of the most shocking and influential horror film to date the typical storyline of the masked killer hunting down victims of the night with his butcher knife was soon to be a common occurance in the horror cycle.

Review
This film is (be)head and shoulders above the recently reanimated likes of PROM NIGHT and MY BLOODY VALENTINE (Entertainment Weekly, 01/07/2009)
Technically rather better than its predecessors, to whose storyline it refers (Financial Times, 01/07/2009)
[FRIDAY THE 13TH has] Bay's big-budget sheen, and [is] every bit as efficient and heartless as the original Fridays (Newsday, 01/07/2009)
Director Marcus Nispel is turning into the king of movie makeovers, lending a youthful appearance to doddery film franchises... this looks like more money well spent (Teletext, 01/07/2009)
Entertaining slasher remake that's well acted and delivers the requisite amount of gruesome deaths (View London, 01/07/2009)
DVD Description
A man in search of his missing sister stumbles across a deadly secret in the woods surrounding Crystal Lake as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE redux duo Michael Bay and Marcus Nispel resurrect one of the silver screen's most feared slashers--machete-wielding, hockey mask-wearing madman Jason Voorhees. The last time Clay heard from his sister, she was headed toward Crystal Lake. There, amidst the creaky old cabins and moss-coated trees, an unstoppable force of evil lies quietly dormant, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Though the police and locals all warn Clay to stay as far away from Crystal Lake as possible, it's the only lead he has, and he isn't willing to give up until he finds his sister. Clay isn't the only one inhabiting these woods either, because a group of thrill-seeking college students have just arrived at Crystal Lake hoping for a wild weekend of fun in the sun. Later, as Clay and one of the recently arrived revellers search for clues, the infamous Jason Voorhees emerges to show them just why the locals have avoided these woods for years. Could it be that Clay's sister has already met a grim demise at the end of Jason's razor-sharp machete, or is she still out there somewhere in the woods, waiting for her brother to come to her rescue? FREDDY VS JASON scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift pen the screenplay for a remake executive produced by Sean S. Cunningham (producer/director of the original FRIDAY THE 13TH).
