Advantages: Very funny all round film! Disadvantages: Swearing and lots of afro-american banter
Any film that makes me want to sit and watch it again has to be good in my eyes. I am not a great comedy film watcher, but this is one of my all time great comedy films.

Ice plays 'Craig' who has just lost his job, and Chris plays 'Smokey', a drug dealing, weed smoking layabout.
The film revolves around the two sitting on Craig's front porch smoking weed (marijuana) all day on a Friday. The weed they are smoking is not paid for, and the drug baron it belongs to, a big black guy named 'Worm', soon comes looking for his money. Worm looks like he has stepped out of the 70's, sporting an afro hairstyle and also drives around in an ice-cream van. When he finds out that Smokey doesn't have his money, he threatens to kill them both later that night. So the two sit on the porch and think of ways to get Worm's money.
Throughout the day other events happen and other characters interact with the two. One being a big dumb looking guy named 'Debo', who rides around on a bike which he has stolen from a child, and it is much too small for him. The two have to hide their belongings whenever Debo appears as he takes things from anyone. Another is a drug addict named 'Ezell', that will do anything for $2. Craig's father is another very funny character in this film. As well as his witty remarks and his facial expressions, the way he talks is hilarious.
The whole film is very funny throughout with it's fly-on-the-wall type layout, and I would definitely recommend this if you are in need of a good laugh. It has to be funny or I would not want to watch it over and over again!
If you don't like a lot of swearing or don't like the way African-Americans talk, then give it a miss.

===Story:===
Friday is set in a Los Angeles hood and is a comedic day in the life look at the goings on of two black youths just trying to chill and pass the day but they soon find out a lot can go down in the hood between Thursday and Saturday. Smokey is your average small time weed dealer smoking up his profits & falling behind with payments whilst Craig is the more sensible of the two and is working in a box factory in town with ... ...used my favourite track from friday would probably be Dr. Dre - Keep The Heads Bringin' although all tracks chosen were great. There are no real special effects to speak of in this film but some good camera techniques were employed to imitate the feeling of being stoned. I found the plot in this film really good as it keeps switching and changing and your never quite sure what to expect next especially where Chris tucker's character is concerned ...

Advantages: Funny, Catchy, Soundtrack is brilliant Disadvantages: Cannot think of any!
Initially this film may appear it will appeal only to hip hop fans, don't be fooled. The basic story is that Craig (Ice Cube) loses his job, on his day off!!, and the film covers the next day, Friday, including the various events that occur. As well as Ice Cube's superb performance Smokey (Chris Tucker) wins over the audience straight away with his quirky but highly amusing personality.
After viewing this film one will find that you quote quite ... ...do seem so cool to use! yes they are!
The soundtrack to this film is very good (I own the CD) with hip hop, r&b, soul, and a cool remix of 'I heard it on the grapevine'. Despite this film not having a large budget I believe this has helped to 'keep it real'!
Although the whole film is based around one street it does not get boring due to the wide range of characters from Craig's dad ("don't go in there for 35-45 minutes") to Deebo (the street bully). ...

Advantages: good story, original characters, funny as hell! Disadvantages: not a bad word to say
This film is, hands down my favourite comedy of all time. I love the characters, I love the story line, all of the jokes were original and funny. I didnt have the trouble that some others did with the black lingo, being black american myself, and let me just say that if you did understand it all, you would have laughed twice as hard. The story line isnt anything that would get rave reviews, its a basic story about two friends getting high, and then ... ...way there are some absolutely pant wetting gags, lots of weed smoking, and general funny interaction. I loved the way in which the film was made, the camera angles are really clever, and the soundtrack is one of my favourites. The characters are very believeable and unique. By far my favourite was the main character (craig's) father. He remided me so much of my own father and does come out with some classic lines. For example i know this probably ...

Advantages: The soundtrack. Disadvantages: Craig's dad on the bog!
A superb film written, produced and directed by, and starring, ICE CUBE. Fantastic storyline set in South Central Los Angeles. The two main characters are Craig (Ice Cube) and Smokey. The story focuses around Craig's trouble with work and his suspicious psycho girlfriend, as well as Smokey's problem with drug dealers. Smokey smokes all the weed he is supposed to be selling and when Craig gets involved, they are both threatened with death. They need ... ...nightfall.
This is a very funny film showing very realistically their lives in the ghetto of LA. Funny jokes about weed and also some rather sickening scenes of Craig's dad on the toilet!
Wicked soundtrack features Ice Cube, Cypress Hill , Dr Dre and more.
If you have seen Boyz 'n' the Hood or Menace 2 Society and enjoyed them, you will certainly like this film. Certainly I would recommend this for anyone in their mid-teens to mid-20s. ...

Advantages: Jamie Lee Curtis, it makes you laugh Disadvantages: Lohan's acting isn't the best.
My 200th review, wow!!
On Easter Monday, whilst very bored, I sat flicking through the television channels for something decent to watch. As is always the case in England on a bank holiday, there was absolutely nothing, even on the hundred and something channels we receive through Sky. I did see that BBC were showing the movie Freaky Friday, but to be honest it didn't appeal to me. However, there was nothing on so I left it on and sat there expecting a dire 90 minutes. But do you know what? I was left quite pleasantly surprised!
Freaky Friday is actually a remake of a the 1976 version of the movie which starred a very young Jodie Foster and someone called Barbara Harris. The modern version stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, to Hollywood names familiar to most people these days I would imagine. Freaky Friday tells us ...
Advantages: If you don't watch it you don't know how bad it is Disadvantages: Everything has been done half-assed
Looking through my brothers DVD collection, I wasn't expecting anything to jump out at me for a film that I must review, and to be honest nothing did. What I did spot however was a film that could perhaps be worth waiting, called 'Next Friday'. It seemed like quite an odd film to be in my brothers collection, as from the front of the DVD cover you immediately get the feeling that it is quite an 'urban' film - and my brother is anything but. Next Friday is a 2000 release, the second film in the 'Friday' trilogy, also having a follow-up by the name of 'Friday After Next'. Now I've never seen the first or third, so maybe there was some character development in the first that made this film seem really good, but I don't think Next Friday is going to be able to stand on its own two feet.
Famous rapper, Ice Cube, played a hand in writing ...
I've never seen the original Freaky Friday but when I saw the trailers in the cinema I thought this looked like it might by quite fun. As it turned out I didn't actually go to watch it at the cinema though, but I did watch it the other night (a friend had borrowed the DVD) and I was most pleasantly surprised. (I'm not reviewing the DVD version as such though since we didn't bother with any of the extras.)
The idea behind Freaky Friday is pretty simple... a mother (Tess Coleman - Jamie Lee Curtis) and daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) get a body swap when a mad old Chinese woman decides they need to literally walk in each other's shoes to gain unity, understanding, etc. Naturally they're not too impressed by this whole idea, especially as Tess is about to re-marry and Anna is needed for a once in a lifetime opportunity for her band to ...

DVD Description
Thoroughly charming and totally hilarious day-in-the-life comedy in which co-writer Ice Cube plays the stoic Craig opposite Chris Tucker's Smokey, a brilliantly rendered hyperactive marijuana enthusiast. The two twentysomethings, Craig recently wrongly fired and Smokey terminally slacking and scamming, barely make it through one highly eventful day. Eloquent commentary on themes like community, family, friendship, and violence is seamlessly blended with lighter treatments of young romance, bathroom emergencies, nosy neighbors and much more. Casually impeccable performances by the entire cast make this film a standout.
