French Legends Of The Tour De France DVD

Advantages: off-beat style, entertaining, bizarre
Disadvantages: err...none!

...This is a bizarre animated french film about the Tour de France (but don't let that put you off). It's animated in a quirky style and is reminiscent of Jeunet and Caro at their best, with strange characters popping up out of the industrial looking background. It's essentially about a young boy's obsession with cycling and his grandmother's determination to make him the best - no matter what the cost! She acquires his first bicycle for him and then proceeds to train him with one objective - to win the Tour de France. An excellent sub plot with the crazy singing bag ladies and how they defeat the bad guy is a pleasant diversion from the main story. Everyone should see it at least once.... Read review

Advantages: full history both good and bad points
Disadvantages: some clips are grainy but that doesn't distract too much

...I brought this for my cycling mad husband and watched it with him, not really expecting to enjoy it. I was surprised it was interesting and a great look back at what life was like in the early days of cycling. I think is well worth buying for both the history and the insights into a great sportsman. The dvd showed the warts and all of cycling's start as a sport. It also shows how life and areas have altered over the years. The inclusion of an interview with the up to date Eddy was very interesting. His views and memories of those years as a true hero of cycling. I didn't realise they had a drug issue in those early days as well. It makes you realise how lucky we are now the sporting athorities are actively stopping that darker side of cycling. The old race routes and roads must have made this sport very hazzordous then. If you like... Read review

Advantages: Cheap and it's all about Ronaldo
Disadvantages: Only shows France 98 highlights

...to see Ronaldo at his best and how he performed at France 1998. Although I was disappointed that it didn't go into his life further I was happy that the DVD showed everything Ronaldo did in the World cup in detail and it was good looking back at someone who is important to me. I think the DVD is now quite cheap so if you want to see how Ronaldo or Brazil did in France 1998 then this is a must buy for a DVD and will do for a good watch if you want to see a true legend of our time playing football....
