Looking over the reviews already written on this film I am noticing a general pattern. People who gave this 1 start got 'very helptul', people who gave this a high rating got 'somewhat helpful'.
I am not going to give this film 1 star. I think it's brilliant. I understand this may get me some low ratings but this is all about giving honest opinions so here I go.
Initially the title of this film put me off but eventually I gave in and watched this film.
It is written, directed and stars Tom Green. If you are familiar with Tom Green you can take a good guess at what you will get from this film - a lot of funny moments but also a lot of tasteless ones.
The plot is about Gord (Tom Green) who wants to be an Animator so moves to LA to persue his dream. He has to work in a cheese sandwhich factory to support himself but then he meets Mr Dave Davidson (Anthony Micheal Hall - The Breakfast Club) who produces Animations. Mr Dave Davidson tells Gord he must quit his job and move back home to concentrate on his Animations.
Gord moves back home with his mother and his father, Jim, who hates him. His brother Freddy lives near by and comes around for breakfast every morning.
The humour in this film is quite childish but if you let yourself go you will really be laughing out loud.
Gord also meets a girlfriend Betty (Marissa Coughlan - Gossip and Super Troopers) who is paralyzed and has an obsession with oral sex and rocket powered wheel chairs.
On meeting Gords girlfriend for the first time this is the conversation that happens between his dad and Betty;
Jim: Wait a minute... You're crippled.
Gord: Dad...
Betty: What?
Gord: Dad...
Betty: You got a problem with my legs?
Jim: No, you got a problem with your legs. It's ether that, or you're just lazy.
As I said a lot of the jokes are in bad taste but funny none the less.
Some of the jokes are ones that you can relate to. Whilst Gord is working in a cheese sandwhich shop he encounters a customer who is not happy with his sandwhich;
Sandwhich Customer: This cheese sandwich.
Gord: What?
Sandwich Customer: It doesn't have enough cheese in it.
Gord: Well... we can't have that, cause, you know, a cheese sandwich with no cheese, it's just... two pieces of bread, and you know what? I could LOSE MY JOB. I could lose ALL THIS.
The way he says "I could lose ALL THIS" cracks me up as I've often felt that way at work.
This film will offend people as there are jokes that are in bad taste and also some disgusting not funny parts but if you take this film for what it is it can be truly enjoyable.
The title put me off and I guess you are wondering what it is about. During a family counseling session Gord claims that his Dad fingers Freddy. Obviously this is not something funny in real life and is very serious thing but the context in the film I have to say is amusing (even though I know I shouldn't say that!).
I think that this is the Marmite of films; you either love it or hate it.
If two people who love it meet you can spend hours quoting hilarous lines from it and laughing away. I remember a drunken night when I found some people who like it and we couldn't stop laughing once we got started.
However if you hate it, you will wonder how anyone could possibly find this film funny.
Each to their own I guess.
I have rated this film as excellent cos although there are elements of this film I don't like the bits I do like, I love so much that it makes this film excellent rather than good. That is not to say it is without flaw. The good bits just more than make up for the flaws.

I will have to look out for it. I must admit the title is a bit off-putting. Maureen
