Rummaging through the shelves of the local Blockbuster a couple of Saturdays ago, I saw this film sitting prominently in the top twenty most rented chart at around number thirteen or fourteen, or whatever it was. By chance, a friend asked a couple of weeks beforehand if I’d watched the movie, and superficially went over it, telling me it was a kind of quite silly comedy, and that she only enjoyed a few bits of it here and there. Did I listen to her advice – Heck, No!
Off I popped to the till, proudly displaying my copy, along with one of Gladiator (an op on that soon), gave my money to the nice young man serving, and went to my car, all excited about a back-to-back, movie-filled Saturday evening, with popcorn and chocs, and other sugar-filled assortments (I am pretty sad like that).
There the niceties end. First in line to be inserted in the video recorder (pardon the pun) was Freddy got fingered. The film, in sketchy terms, is about a character in his late twenties named Gord (exactly!), played by Tom Green, who is, supposedly, a cartoon animator, still living with his parents, but decides to finally move out and make his own life in Hollywood. The film, from then onwards, revolves around the various characters he encounters, and the, supposedly (that word pops up again!), hilarious situations he gets into.
Tom Green, some of you might already know this, gained his fame via his sometimes fairly sick show on MTV. His parents were mainly the victims of his unfunny practical jokes – I think he once left either a cow’s or horse’s head (a real one!), with blood and all, in their bed while they were sleeping, only to think it amusing when they finally got up and found it there. Tom’s romance and subsequent marriage to Drew Barrymore, who makes a brief cameo appearance in the film, only reflects how silly this man is.
I won’t delve much into the film, simply because it is not worth delving into. I am all for somewhat inane and absurd comedy at times, but this film takes the absolute biscuit. Ali G was inane comedy, but compared to this piece of trash, that is a bloody work of genius. In justification to my thoughts on this rubbish, I’ll give you two examples of what is supposed to be a joke – one is when Gord delivers a baby all by himself, separates the baby from mother by chewing away at the umbilical cord, then holding the cord and spinning the baby around with it like you would a stone on a rope. A second example is with Gord visiting his newly acquired girlfriend, Betty, who is disabled, and the only thing that seems to get her off (sexually speaking) is hitting her paralysed legs with a golf club as hard as one can. Not to mention Gord having the aforementioned umbilical cord taped to his stomach as Betty tries to undress him to give him a blow job – his words were:’its an umbilical cord, I’ve…I’ve taped the umbilical cord to my stomach’ – Go figure.
Whatever possessed me to hire this movie?! I think that’s the eighth wonder of the world. Any fellow Ciaoer thinking of making the same mistake – I BEG OF YOU, DO NOT! This is by far the most sick, stupid, ridiculous piece of mainstream movie making I have ever had the misfortune to come across, and I’ve seen a few turkeys in my time. How on earth can anyone commission a film like this, I have no idea.
Do not touch with a barge pole.
Footnote – I genuinely switched off the video recorder halfway through the film, and took the tape out. But for the sake of writing an op on it, and in order to give a full review, I wouldn’t have bothered watching the rest of it. If there was a rating less than one on Ciao, I would have gladly used it.
Over and out.
Raf.

I have to say that I really enjoyed that opinion but would you believe it, I don't agree. Me, being stupid, I like stupid things, therefore with this being the most stupid film ever, I enjoyed it. I suppose you can call me a sick person too. Anyway, we are not all perfect but hey, who is.
