Advantages: Funny and Different Disadvantages: Some of the gags are lame
Freaked is to me, not quite a B movie but one that didnt make the A. Its got some small cult status which I think it earns well though at times it looks like a slapstick comedy, which puts me off only slightly. There's plenty of good gags in there and a couple of lame ones but then the lameness is a little deliberate I think which gives the film extra points but puts it on B movie status. Which is good because as a B movie, its great.

Advantages: Non stop action, plenty to keep you on your toes. Disadvantages: Not original enough, not enough twists and turns
...Eight legged freaks was a dissapointmnent it was a waste of time. Special effects were average for todays standards, but did the job. Story was just to run of the mill, spiders created by toxic waste, they grow various sizes. Then the usual first victim gets it. The hero of the film is so obvious, I know it was probably made for children but I think todays kids want something a little more meaty, like a few twists and turns, maybe a more surprise. The acting was a little wooden too, film was rated 12 or over but the actors seemed to act 12 and under. I know my opinion is a little harsh but it frustrates me when so much more can be done with a film of this kind.
It reminded me of starship troopers which I loved, but E.L.F had chunks of script missing. It saddens me because I know E.L.F could have been a classic.
When I saw the credits...

...Well I thought it was gonna be all spiders and creapy crawleys and since I don't like spiders, I didn't want to watch it when my other half brought it for ME!
The film has a few recognisable faces in it although none of them are oscar winners. It starts straight away with loads of ordinary spiders in tanks and this is the only part that I really did not like, because they were real spiders. eugh.
The spiders have been able to eat contaminated food and this is what turns them into overgrown freaks, and now people, ostriches and even a stuffed mooses head? becomes food for them. The only one who knows the truth at first is a kid, needless to say no one believes him, afterall he is just a kid! The thing I find hard to believe is that all the pets and people start to go missing but no one wonders why or where?
Then somebody believes...

DVD Description
While on a promotional tour for a corrupt international conglomerate, a mercenary TV actor Ricky Coogin travels to Santa Flan, a South American country. With his best friend, and his would-be girlfriend along for the trip, they are unwillingly transformed into circus freaks by sleazy road-show proprietor Elijah C. Skuggs. Ricky, now a beast-boy, and his cohorts soon join the ranks of Sockhead, Rosie the Pinhead, and the Hideous Frogman, to hatch a scheme to steal Skuggs' gene-altering formula, thereby returning everyone to their original states. Look out for an uncredited cameo from Keanu Reeves as Dog Boy.
