DVD Description
With its witty dialogue, sophisticated character development, and classic slapstick situations, FRASIER is perhaps best described as the thinking man’s FRIENDS. Taking centre stage is pompous radio psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), whose phone-in show serves as much an outlet for his neuroses, as it does a public service for the people of Seattle. Clever intersecting storylines feature a brilliant ensemble cast, including his prim and proper brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce), their gruff retired-cop father Martin (John Mahoney), live-in home care worker Daphne (Jane Leeves), brassy radio producer Roz (Teri Gilpin), and a charismatic Jack Russell terrier named Eddie, with whom Frasier has regular staring contests but never wins. This collection presents all 23 episodes of the show’s Emmy Award-winning sixth series--including the classic episode ‘Merry Christmas, Mrs. Moskowitz’, which finds Frasier pretending to be Jewish in order to win over his new girlfriend's mother.
Advantages: Very funny, the farcical episodes steal the show Disadvantages: some repetitive story lines, can be predictable at times
...The Hilarious Frasier Crane returns in his 5th Series (finally), we've been waiting for over 12 months for this series to be released in the UK, and even as i write this i am still waiting for its release. This is not the greatest boxset in the world, there will be no extras what so ever, does make you wonder what they've been doing for 15 months? But what do you get for your money? Niles remains infactuated with Daphne, frasier continues to try and fail in love and Eddie still steals the show yet again.
For any newcomers to the Frasier world, firstly what have you been waisting your time watching? and secondly a little on the show. The highly succesful spin-off from the equally popular series Cheers is based around the lives of Frasier, his father Martin (an ex-cop with a bullet in his hip) who moved in with him over four years ago...

Advantages: All of the fabulous episodes in one set Disadvantages: Lots of money to shell out in one go
...Fans of Due South have had to wait a very long time for the series to be available on DVD, but this is a boxset worth waiting for. It contains every single episode from the three seasons of the show.
In season one we meet Benton Frasier, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a stickler for the rules and appropriate behaviour. Absolutely gorgeous, but apparently unaware of the effect he has on women, Frasier moves to Chicago (with trusty wolf Diefenbaker) to find his father's killer, then stays on to help Chicago cop Ray solve his cases. Towards the end of season one we discover that Frasier does understand the meaning of love, and his willing to give his life for it.
In season two Ray and Frasier are on the trail of criminals again, and there's hilarious guest appearances from Leslie Nielsen as a long-serving Mountie who...

Advantages: Laugh out loud funny, but also tempered with drama Disadvantages: Extras are weak
...was a regular character.
It centrered on the goings on in a local Boston bar and the lives of it's regulars, one of which being Frasier and his icy wife Lilith.
After the show finished its final run the creators decided the character of Frasier Crane had been given sufficient back story and development to merit a show all of his own, the result was Frasier.
In comparison to that other popular US sitcom Friends, Frasier for me stands head and shoulders above it, the script throws out great one liners in each episode, it has some absolute killer sightgags and in Moose, who plays Eddie, Martins lovable Jack Russell terrrier, the greatest comedy performance by a canine.......ever.
Not only can it be achingly funny but the series has its more serious moments too, after Frasier buys Martin a new recliner because he hates the sight of his dads old pea...
