DVD Description
With its witty dialogue, sophisticated character development, and classic slapstick situations, FRASIER is perhaps best described as the thinking man's FRIENDS. Taking centre stage is pompous radio psychiatrist Dr Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), whose phone-in show serves as much an outlet for his neuroses, as it does a public service for the people of Seattle. Clever intersecting storylines feature a brilliant ensemble cast, including his prim and proper brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce), their gruff retired-cop father Martin (John Mahoney), live-in home care worker Daphne (Jane Leeves), brassy radio producer Roz (Teri Gilpin), and a charismatic Jack Russell terrier named Eddie, with whom Frasier has regular staring contests but never wins. This collection includes every episode from the show's eleventh series.
Advantages: Very funny, the farcical episodes steal the show Disadvantages: some repetitive story lines, can be predictable at times
...The Hilarious Frasier Crane returns in his 5th Series (finally), we've been waiting for over 12 months for this series to be released in the UK, and even as i write this i am still waiting for its release. This is not the greatest box set in the world, there will be no extras what so ever, does make you wonder what they've been doing for 15 months? But what do you get for your money? Niles remains infactuated with Daphne, frasier continues to try and fail in love and Eddie still steals the show yet again.
For any newcomers to the Frasier world, firstly what have you been waisting your time watching? and secondly a little on the show. The highly succesful spin-off from the equally popular series Cheers is based around the lives of Frasier, his father Martin (an ex-cop with a bullet in his hip) who moved in with him over four years ago...

Advantages: Funny, dry, and something a bit different Disadvantages: Seen by some as too 'high-brow'
...a reputation as being too high-browed for most people, but that's just not true. Apart form the main characters having their fair share of snobbish moments, most of the comedy comes from simple but effective run-on jokes and puns. I must say, I don't think this show is as funny as other sitcoms (Friends, etc.), but it's a very enjoyable show with a great story-line, good acting and it does have more than it's fair share of funny moments. It blends dry wit with visual humour/slapstick very well.
The DVD can be bought for £14.99 and has all 24 episodes, although there really isn't much in the way of extras to bother mentioning.
Here's the episode list:
1. The Good Son
2. Space Quest
3. Dinner At Eight
4. I Hate Frasier Crane
5. Here's Looking At You
6. The Crucible
7. Call Me Irresponsible
8. Beloved Infidel
9. Selling Out
10. Oops
11. Death...

Advantages: Superbly Funny, Good Value for Money Disadvantages: Probably not as funny as Season 2
...to say, the strong characters keep this show together very well. Daphne becomes a little less "weird" and turns her attention to romances. Martin is the same old man that sits in front of the TV drinking his beer. Eddie.......is well, Eddie!
In conclusion, for the avid Frasier fan, this is a must buy. Some very good episodes but a few can be a bit boring with only a few laughs. If you don't have any DVD boxsets yet, don't buy this one first. Start with season one!
Frasier deservedly returns for a fourth series which is also brilliant....
