When some one mentions Al Pacino, no doubt, the first image that springs to mind is that of a mean, moody mobster ala The Godfather or Scarface-but here we find the brilliant Mr. P partnering his old screen love interest, Michelle Pfeiffer once again-to star in easily my all time favourite romantic comedy.Johnny(Pacino)is a newly released con, trying to make his way on the straight and narrow, and finds himself working as a short order chef in a two-bit, but wonderfully charismatic cafe in a typical down town American city. Ms. Pfeiffer is the lonely, bitter waitress that secretly longs to find love after many years of heartache and pain. They are indeed-just like the old classic song two star-crossed lovers-and the movie sucks you in-as you simply cannot help really caringabout them and what becomes of their attempt at building a relationship together-through all the ups and downs of the story-you will laugh out loud at the comical characters, chiefly, Frankies(Pfeiffer) gay flat mate-a camp actor-who has the BEST lines-"Im so excited-I feel just like your big sister" and referring to his own new lover-"yes, he was one of the Von Trapp family..", the other waitresses-one a glamourpuss, who is bold n brassy, but has a heart of gold and the other who is a lot like Olive from the old 70s tv sit com"On The Buses"-plain as they come, with only her pet terrapins for company-but who loves to dance and does so shamelessly with Johnny at a party-"Are you bra-less woman?!"He exclaims as they dance to the wild Greek rythmn!!Oh I could go on and on about this classic-but no-just buy it and enjoy-youll laugh and cry-I watch it often-and it always hits the spot-perfect viewing for a girls night in with your mates!!And of course-Mr. Pacino is as always, the sexiest man on earth!!
