Merchant, oh Merchant, where art thou Merchant
Review of The Merchant Of Venice DVD by doosh1989

Advantages: Fantastic scenery and brilliant cast
Disadvantages: Can be slow and difficult to follow

...Merchant of Venice Film Review The Merchant of Venice is a film adaptation of the Shakespeare comedy directed by Michael Radford. It was written by Shakespeare in 1594 and this is when the film is set. The film itself was released into cinemas in late 2004. 1594 was a golden year for Shakespeare as 1594 was the same year that another popular work; Romeo and Juliet was published. The film adaptation follows this theme of golden work as the storyline is incredibly sharp. The basic storyline is that Bassanio, a young Venetian wants to go to Belmont to attempt to marry Portia (Lynn Collins), a beautiful, young and rich women however he doesn't believe he has enough money therefore he asks his friend, the merchant Antonio for money. As he is waiting for his ships to arrive from the rest of the world he asks a Jew, Shylock (Al Pacino... Read review

Not so extraordinary
Review of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen DVD by marxsmann

Advantages: It's got Sean Connery in it?
Disadvantages: Non-existent plot, Witless Dialogue, Incomprehensible Action Sequences

...Unfortunately Sean Connery seems recently to be appearing in bad film after bad film. As if the 'Avengers' wasn't bad enough he decided to take up the opportunity to appear in this Comic book adaptation. Stephen Norrington, director of 'Blade', overwhelms you with totally incomprehensible action sequences, ridiculous looking digital effects (including the rather amusing Venice scenes) and a tonne of explosions in a vein attempt to distract us from the non-existent plot, poor acting and the no name supporting cast. Some of the 'Matrix' revolution of film fans might enjoy the movies cool gadgets but fans of Alan Moore's graphic novel will be appalled. Unfortunately this film adaptation failed in every way where Spiderman and X-Men succeeded. Avoid at all costs.... Read review

Bond is Back- with his hair dyed!
Review of Casino Royale DVD by JamieT123

Advantages: Daniel Craig, opening scene, Action and fight scenes
Disadvantages: Part in casino may become a little tedious for some

...Casino Royale goes back to the beginning of James Bond's career. MI6's newest recruit (Daniel Craig) must take down a man known as "Le Chiffre" (Mads Mikkelsen), a money launderer for terrorists who is raising operational funds at a high-stakes poker game in Casino Royale to prevent himself getting into money troubles. This is the first Bond adventure since 1987 to be based on one of Ian Fleming's original novels. Special Features: * Becoming Bond (30 mins) * James Bond For Real (30 mins) * Death in Venice (30 mins) * Bond Girls are Forever ( 50+ mins) * 5 News wraps * Music Video Good film overall. Exhilerating and sometimes even brutal. Some great action scenes, which start right from the beginning with a great free running scene. This scene draws its audience in straight from the go with a great chase... Read review
