I don't think he brought much to this role, neither him or Witherspoon were likeable within this film, which was weird as they're usually captivating and interesting, but I have to say I couldn't be assed to care about them.
I haven't been to the cinema in months and now I've been twice in three days. After the awful crap that was Twilight I was a bit apprehensive with this film, but it had some good actors in it and I expected something good. With the likes of Vince Vaughn and Reece Witherspoon I thought it would be brilliant, usually her films are very funny. We sat down to watch the film, with higher hopes than what we did with Twilight, but as soon as we get into it, we realise it may even be worse than Twilight.
The Plot
------------Kate & Brad are a couple who do everything together, they both come from dysfunctional families so rather spend Christmas together in exotic locations rather than spend it with their families. However after unforeseen circumstances they are forced to stay in San Francisco and deal with their divorced parents and spend Christmas around four different houses. Here they realise that despite the fact that they may spend all the time in the world together, they don't really know each other.

He's never been a great actor in my eyes, he's always attempted it and he's been in some good films, but has never really made it onto my radar as a fantastic actor. In this film he's no difference, he talks a hundred miles a minute and half the time you find yourself tuning him out. I don't think he brought much to this role, neither him or Witherspoon were likeable within this film, which was weird as they're usually captivating and interesting, but I have to say I couldn't be assed to care about them.
Kate- Reece Witherspoon
---------------------------------Witherspoon is usually a brilliant actress, she's been in some great films from Legally Blonde to Just Like Heaven and has always been a brilliant actress. She always has the likeability factor within films, however within this film she didn't. I didn't find myself connected to her; I didn't care about what happened or anything like that. I'm unsure if that's because of Witherspoon herself of the stupid script that she was delft with.
My Opinion
-----------------
I have just found out that this film may be so crap due to the fact that the script was stuck, unlike most films, where the script changes throughout the film to give a better feel to the film as it goes on, they were not allowed to change anything due to the writers' strike. This may be why it's awful, but I think it was heading that way anyway.
Why didn't I enjoy the film? Well first things first like I said, the cast was boring, I did not connect with any of the characters and found them all to be bland and just not funny. With a family comedy you really do expect something more than this but the acting was just bearable.
The main problem for me was the comedy, or the lack of comedy. I really can't recall laughing throughout and I'm the sort of person who spends hours laughing at a laughing cow, so it doesn't really take a lot to make me laugh. They didn't just use slapstick comedy within this film, because sometimes that is quite funny, they also went for the extreme, there's one scene where Witherspoon hurls a bunch of kids over her shoulder, and the brothers of Vaughn's character, keep beating him up for like 10 minutes. I found myself cringing rather than laughing, trying to work out who thought this was funny.
I have seen a lot of crap Romance Comedy's in my time, but I think this could come close to the worse that I have seen. It's not funny, there's not good acting, despite the fact that the film has 5 Oscar winners in the film, this shocked me as none of the acting was good, but it 5 of the actors were Oscar winners, I think someone really did do something wrong.
Should you buy it/watch it?
--------------------------------------
No, it's awful, it's really awful. I think this will be the last film I see at the cinema in 2008 and of course it's awful. It had to be. I think the film could have been better, I wasn't expecting much as it was a romantic Christmas comedy, but I was expecting more than what I got. It was boring, the laughs if any were too young for adults and too mature for children, most of the jokes were slapstick and more cringe worthy than anything.
This film should have been good, due to all the great actors in it, but it never quite came close. It's a shame, but stay away from this film. Not good.
Advantages: Funny, Good Cast, Christmasy!! Disadvantages: Could of been better
As soon as I saw Four Christmases Advertised I had to see it. Vince Vaughn and Reece Witherspoon make numerous appearances in my dvd collection so I knew more than likely i would probably love this film.
The trailer looked great, like a great Christmas Comedy, perfect to put me in the Xmas Mood!!
The Film is about a couple, Brad (Vince Vaughan) and Kate (Reece Witherspoon), the pair are happy, what some would say,the perfect couple. They aren't ... ...off to celebrate Christmas on four different visits. They decide to use the word 'Mistletoe' as a code word to make a quick escape. And within minutes of entering the houses Mistletoe is often heard.
Whilst at the houses we learn hidden secrets from the past and the pairs relationship is pushed to the limit. They learn a lot which they didn't know about the other, things which they are shocked to discover. The pair thought they knew everything about ...

It was around the start of December and obviousdly christmas was coming closer and closer each day. I wanted something to get me in the mood for christmas as I had a lot on my plate before this time. Advantages: Were there any? Disadvantages: The list is endless
Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn with a host of other well-known actors, including Robert Duval, Sissy Spacek and Jon Favreau, in a Christmas movie- sounds great, right? Can't go wrong? Oh boy, did it go wrong. Even though the premise has potential to be your typical family comedy, the movie itself becomes a little too serious for what it says it's going to be- marriage, families, commitment, lies, how your parents mess you up for life. All these ... ...my opinion. Comedy-wise, I laughed- ONCE. Something tickled me about twenty five minutes in to the film, but that was it really. There was the odd moment where I thought I might smile, but cage-fighting brothers and cradle-snatching mothers, childhood traumas and fat camp jokes aren't really that funny. In fact, they are kind of predictable. It wasn't quite slapstick, more what I call "stupid comedy"- as in, if you're feeling kinda silly/ stupid, ...

~ Spilt in Four ~
Last night after a hard day job hunting and having interviews, we went to our local blockbuster and rented four films for £10. One of these which we watched last night was ?FourChristmases?. I remember this coming out a while ago and thinking it looked quite funny but forgot all about it till now. What made me noticed the film was mainly the famous cast and the plot. The cast consists of a range of well known stars including Vince Vaughan and Reese Witherspoon. I really like Vince and find his comedy great to watch, so this was a main reason for choosing the film. The film also included many other stars who I recognised playing the protagonists parents. The mixture of talent made it interesting and brilliant to see. Also Reese Witherspoon has not starred in a film for a while and it was intriguing to see these ...
Advantages: Great cast, perfect chemistry and relationship between Rudd and Segel, hilarious film Disadvantages: Some disgusting parts and detailed sex talk
with some swearing and some detailed sexual talk which is what gives it it's 15 certificate rating. There were quite a few old woman in our cinema which we thought was a bit strange as I wouldn't have thought it would really be their sort of film!
With two excellent main characters, full of a great cast, and a film full of laughs, this made for a perfect movie.
