This is a flm only review and is not about the DVD.
Four Brothers is an excellent gritty film that I watched on Film 4 a couple of nights ago, it has a strong cast and a pretty good story line that focuses on family relationships and the quest for revenge. The four brothers in the title are all adopted and are bought back together to the city of Detroit one winters day for the funeral of their foster mother who provided them with a loving home and precious childhood memories in a rough working class area.
The mother has been killed in a convenience store robbery while she was shopping for groceries and the thre of the brothers vow to get revenge despite the close attention of the local police to whome they are well known.
Cast List
Mark Wahlberg ... Bobby Mercer Tyrese Gibson ... Angel Mercer André Benjamin ... Jeremiah Mercer Garrett Hedlund ... Jack Mercer Terrence Howard ... Lt. Green Josh Charles ... Detective Fowler Sofía Vergara ... Sofi Fionnula Flanagan ... Evelyn Mercer Chiwetel Ejiofor ... Victor Sweet Taraji P. Henson ... Camille Mercer
This is a very violent film and there are lots of very good action scenes in it, Mark Wahlberg is excellent as the tough former ice hockey player who enjoys fighting more than scoring goals and the interaction between the four brothers is really convincing. Sofia Vergara plays the slightly crazy girlfriend of one of the brothers and her purpose is a bit confusing at times but then I guess her partially dressed prescence appeals to the male viewers.
The film does have its lighter moments and there is some nice banter between the main characters and the film is well scripted, it does get a little over complicated at times and it si strange that when there is a major shoot out and loads of dead bodies that nothing really happens from the police point of view.
I enjoyed this film although it appealed more to my boyfriend on the whole.

I see this has been posted in the category for the Blu-Ray DVD, but mentions nothing about the new Blu-Ray format. Given that this has been posted in this specialised category, I would like to know about the quality of the new format.
