Advantages: Summer beats and witty lyrics
Disadvantages: The 'Mockney' vocals can be a bit irritating

/Reggae beat to it. I loved it when I first heard it for the original and witty lyrics and as I quite like the reagge/ska genre it was quite interesting to hear something fresh. It is apparently inspired by the depression Allen experienced after a relationship break up in her teens; the lyrics belie the perky tune they are sung to. Knock 'Em Out is a very Streets-ish about trying to get away from unwanted blokes in the pub, and girls that bother blokes by return. It is talking rather than singing and there are some amusing excuses given. LDN was actually released before Smile but as a limited edition 7" vinyl only which is why most people -myself included - don't know it. Go aliens! (War Of The Worlds (Special Edition, 2 DVDs))

Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Acting, Writing, Death by annoyance

Originally posted on dooyoo As per the title- basically by about halfway though I was so bored by the story and so annoyed by the characters that I was rooting for the aliens to shoot the humans! Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast play spoilt brats who instead of getting on with it spend most of their time onscreen being whinging about how unfair it is, and having domestics. That the only plot is said domestics doesn't help what could have been a great film. The aliens are beautiful and well done, as are all the special effects and credit needs to be given to the cgi and design team. The rest of this film though really makes a mockery of this great storyline that was written in 1898, and that iconic radio play that was so convincing that many listeners took it to be news. Drowning World - A REAL PAGE TURNER.

Advantages: A superb book

Drowning world. Written by Alan Dean Foster. A wonderful book and I hope my review does it justice and give you a flavour of what to expect. The commonwealth has set up an outpost on the fairly newly discovered planet of Fluva. The Planet has its native populace called Sakuntala and a newer alien contingent called the Deyzara, they tolerate each other. But beneath the surface, not that far beneath, there brew a violent hostility mainly from the Sakuntala who think the Deyzara are trespassers on their planet. Into this comes the commonwealth they set up a base and start trading with the locals and exploring their world. The planet has virtually constant rain! Everywhere is wet, damp or soggy and at times all three. But the planet has potential for massive profit and fortunes to be made because of its weird ...
