Director Robert Zemeckis went downhill after he made the excellent Back to the Future, and this is just another one below the talent he's obviously got somewhere. The sickly sweetness of this film and particularly Hanks in the central role made me very annoyed and it took a lot of effort to stick it to the end. I thought Gary Sinuse was poor in the supporting role and the general idea was ill judged and feebly executed. Hanks, like Robin Williams, is a fine comedy actor - put him in a role with a touch of pathos and they're asking you to keep your breakfast down. uuuugh.
