All of us must have watched ‘Forrest Gump’ it stars the brilliant, the magnificent Tom Hanks. This movie is just ace, I have watched it four times and it’s a really good movie to watch without becoming to bored. Forrest is special, he’s got something about him which makes you love this character, he sits on a bench and re-tells his life story to strangers who wait for the bus.
The movie touches loads of issues like the Vietnam war, when he fights in it with his friend, saves some fellow soldiers one in particularly who has to have his leg amputated- Lieutenant Dan played by Gary Sinise, he’s excellent. My favourite character out of the film version of ‘Mice of Men’ He meets the president and shows them his bullet wound in front of everyone.
I just love so many bits of the movie, when his mum tells Forrest when he’s got braces on his legs that ‘nobody’s better than him’ and when she tells him that don’t talk to strangers Forrest introduces himself to the bus driver, so they are not strangers. When he runs from the boys and Jenny shouts ‘run forest’ the image of the braces breaking and setting him free is a good one.
Forrest is excellent at every thing he tries, running, badminton and American football. He keeps his promise to his black friend and sets off into the seas.
The relationship between Jenny and Forrest, is interesting. I think she’s rather selfish as she always takes from him. Its also quite sad in part, when his Mum dies and when Jenny passes away. It certainly touches you.
I don’t think we’ll every forget that quote ‘Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get next’. Just excellent and true, life is one huge mystery. It’s a film which inspires you to do well. Its probably captures the ‘American Dream’ the best. This film won top awards, and its really good-one to watch if you haven’t seen it. Top acting, and humorous.
A scene, which sticks in my mind, is when he gets a letter to say he owes Apple Macintosh and he just ignores it-Just brilliant.
