The film Forest Gump was spoilt for me because I read the book first and found that I could not put it down for being in stitches of laughter. The film has used quite a lot of poetic license and has ruined it a little bit, but none the more for that the performance by Tom Hanks was absolutely superb along with his colleagues who played his Sergeant and Bubba his best friend and army buddy. I still think the book is better, but I certainly would recommend this film to friend. I loved this film.
