Dont you... forget about me

Advantages: Julianne Moore...She's beautiful
Disadvantages: Too much like x-files in its latter days

The Forgotten

Joseph Ruben, director of Sleeping of the Enemy and Money Train, brings us a psychological conspiracy theory based thriller that so easily could be an X-files or Outer Limits episode.

Julianne Moore plays Telly Paretta, a mother who is coming to terms with the death of her son, Sam, who was killed in a plane accident… or was he?
Telly not only has to deal with the possibility that her marriage to ...
...has to contend with the notion that her counsellor Dr. Jack Munce (Gary Sinise), who she is seeing to help her deal with Sam's death, thinks she is delusional. Both her doctor and her husband try to tell her that she never had a son but Telly refuses to accept this. She starts to investigate and look for evidence to prove to everyone and herself that she's not mad. She finds an ally in Ash Correll, (Dominic West) who himself had a daughter who was ... more

Do you know one of the Forgotten?

Advantages: Mood, story idea and acting

...a surprise. Not The Forgotten, not once but twice I literally jumped in my seat and I loved that a director can do that to me. If you see the film you’ll know exactly where this happened and I guarantee you’ll jump as well! Julianne Moore again shows what a great actress she is; in all round ability only Nicole Kidman is better than her. She is able to play any kind of part, from comedy to high drama, without looking out of place. Without it seeming ...
...There is a scene early on where she looks through photo albums of Sam in panic, every page she turns is empty, and the sounds of the pages flicking and her sobs portray more than any words possibly could. Apart from Julianne Moore the performances are pretty standard. Not bad by any degree but you feel anyone could have been replaced and it wouldn’t have made a difference. A few years down the line people will have forgotten(!) that Gary Sinise ...

Forget About It

Advantages: It's not terrible
Disadvantages: It's distinctly average

Telly has been mourning the loss of her nine year-old son in an air crash for fourteen months. But then she is told by her husband and psychiatrist that the boy never existed. How can everyone around her have forgotten the person she loved most? Why won’t anyone believe her? Are the last nine years of her life really a delusion or are there more sinister forces at work? I get the impression that director Joseph Ruben is the go-to guy when your project ...
...need a solid dependable director for your latest star vehicle. With credits like “Money Train” and “Sleeping with the Enemy” it certainly seems the case. His directorial style is so un-flashy as to be pedestrian. His juddery camerawork and excessive cutting during the many chase sequences is supposed to convey a sense of urgency, but merely serve to distract from the characters’ panic and are frankly annoying. Ruben uses a great many aerial shots ...

The Forgotten... (not quite)

Advantages: Good plot/entertainment..
Disadvantages: Not the best acting in the world, but to me OK..

The Forgotten is a DVD film that has been around for some time now, but it is one I hadn't seen until recently. I bought it in Virgin's superstore as part of their 3 DVDs-for-a-£20 offer. I took it home to watch and then decided to write this, my first film review. Something I'd never thought I would attempt, because I suppose I am a bit of an escapist and love films that take me away from mundane reality, regardless of how well they are acted. The ...
...York City as if one flying over it in an aircraft or is it a UFO? Then we meet the protagonist Telly Paretta, played by Julianne Moore, talking with her therapist, trying to come to terms with the loss of her small son Sam who died in an air crash. As the plot unfolds reasonably quickly, we see that it is not Telly who has "forgotten" anything, but others around her. First her husband, denies that he son ever existed as Telly questions why a photograph ...

SPOILERS IN REVIEW - Kinda Believable Plot

Advantages: Good film for the first 30/45minutes...
Disadvantages: Storyline ran away with itselft.....

The Forgotten is the story of Telly, a dillusional mother who believes her son was killed in a plane crash 14 months ago. Frequently visiting a psychiatrist, we learn more about Telly's condition and of how she has manufactured memories of her "dead son". The psychatirst explains that Telly has seen what she has wanted to believe, in fact she had no son, let alone any children at all. For example, there was a photo of herself, her husband and her ...
...then as the psychatirst explains how Telly is becomming more and more dillusional we then see the photo and it is only of herself and her husband. Telly immediately places all blame to her husband, ensisting that he removed the photo and replaced it with a similar one of them withot her son in it. Telly claims there is two photos, there was one of the three of them which they asked a lady to take for them and another of just her and her husband, ...
