Advantages: Too many to list Disadvantages: Changes in the words
...of this film is that they have changed in it.
Since I know all the words, so does my sister, we can tell where the changes have been made but if you have not seen this before it will not make a difference. When I saw my sister at Christmas this year we discussed this new version and how it was not as entertaining as the original because of the changes.
The changes are below if you want to know:
Clay the Veggie Dog - veggie burger hound is new as it used to be Nut Rissole Hound
Brian's Job - previously busker poet not street poet
Shirley Discussing Sex with her friends - the car used to be FordCortina now a Ford Escort.
In Greece Jeanette got her Jacuzzi from MFI not Kaymart.
I know these changes are tiny but to me it makes a difference. Whenever I watch this I always speak in the proper words.
Many women would love this film as Shirley...

Advantages: gripping story based on history; cast Disadvantages: graphic violence may be upsetting

It is the slightly embellished story of Sergeant/Lieutenant/Captain John Riley, a distinguished man in the U.S. Army, who faces the reality of religious persecution upon his young men that has sent them to prison and marked them with brutal lashings in the dead of the night. Advantages: Brilliant entertainment, excellent stunts and acting Disadvantages: Drags a bit before its conclusion
...it all in this film.
Don’t overlook Tommy-Lee Jones when considering this film either. He is superb, and although he is trying to catch Ford’s character you cannot help liking his character. He is feisty, smart, a leader and most of all has lots of great lines. My favourite of these is when Ford points a gun at him and upon his insistence that he didn’t murder his wife Jones simply states, “I don’t care!” – and neither would you with a gun pointed at your head! Jones is well worth the Oscar he collected for this part.
The real story is a little hard to grasp, and upon third or fourth watching it does seem to take too long to get to the end, but it is a film worth watching at least twice just to take in the effects and the acting of the two leading men....
