I always wondered why, if this is a continuation on from 'A Fistful Of Dollars', Gian Maria Volonte was in this film when he died in the first as a different character. The answer is simple. He was the perfect actor for the role of Indio. The touching scene of psychopathic Indio studying the music box is an image that sticks in the mind. Lee Van Cleef's character 'Mortimer' also brings a human perspective to this western as we find out that his bounty hunter is not just after money. The typical gunfight scenes are there with the tense finale bringing the film to a close. Eastwood is back on form as 'The Man With No Name' and he contrasts Van Cleef well as they oppose each other to hunt down Indio before teaming up to try and catch him. An improvement on the brilliant first, Leone, with the help of Morricone's music, has produced a glorious follow up that has now rightfully been updated to produce a superb DVD.
