This has to be one of the most underrated classic films of the 80's (although that probably sounds like an insult - it's not!). A youthful Kevin Bacon, who hasn't changed a bit in 15 years and still looks as fresh faced now as he did then. He is also still the most underrated actor in Hollywood alongside John Cusack (Remember the game "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon"). Right enough about the lovely Kev, let's talk about the film. Basic plot: City boy moves to country area where dancing and general partying is prohibited and instills major culture shock in the town. Romances daughter (Lori Singer) of local vicar (John Lithgow of "3rd Rock From the Sun fame), who was responsible for the change in laws after the death of his son. This makes him even more unpopular. Undeterred he incites the students into holding a prom (they eventually get round the laws by hosting it in a neighbouring town), which pits the students against the adults. Still of course this is Hollywood, so the vicar and KB reconcile, Lori and Kev end up together, the students have a nice little dance and everyone lives happily ever after! The film concentrates on the relationships of the central characters, and also contains a young Sarah Jessica Parker looking very Jewish with brown hair (Tells the age of the film!)The soundtrack is also well known, with such classic tracks as of course "Footloose", "Hero", and "Let's Hear It For The Boy". Don't miss this film!
