Why I brought the DVD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have always been a huge fan of Footballers Wives since it first debuted on ITV back in 2002. I love watching the episodes again and again, they are just so easy to watch again and again. I watched the repeats when Footballers Wives was brought by Five and replayed on Five Life, and have all the DVD series to watch again and again.
About Footballers Wives
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Welcome to the world of Footballers' Wives, where everyone plays dirty..." is the catchphrase for this show.

Footballers Wives is an over the top. racey but fantasic soap opera like drama about the lives of young, sexy and rich footballers and their wives. The couples have all the money in the world, and wonderfully glamourous lifestyles and they should be having the time of their lives but the reality is very different.

There is never a dull moment in this fantastic show! There is always something going on, a story is never dragged out and there is always a dramatic event in every episode. If you're anything like me you will get bored and tired of soaps dragging out stories for months, but this doesn't happen on Footballers Wives, the longest you will wait to find something out is one episode! Footballers Wives is one of these programs that you can tell what is going to happen, it is over the top and predictible but is fantastic and I wouldn't want it any other way! In Series 4 the characters seem to have been developed considerably, they are not the same people they were in the previous series.

Footballers Wives is one of those programs that you either love or hate.

About Footballers Wives Series 4
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Footballers Wives Series 4 was realised in 2005 and as with the other series, it aired on ITV. This is a short series containing only 9 episodes, compared to some of the others, but are all one hour long, so you get about 9 hours on the DVD to watch, still enough for a Footballers Wives marathon!
Old favourites, new characters and a host of guest celebrities are featured in Footballers Wives Series 4. Series 4 introduces some new characters - Bruno and Lucy Milligan and their adorable little daughter Angelica. Bruno is the Sparks latest signing. As Tanya Turner leaves the series, Bruno and Lucy begin to take over as the main characters. Conad and Amber Gates were big characters in series 3, and are also in the forefront in the first few episodes, then they start to be over shadowed by Bruno and Lucy. Roger Webb's son Seb Webb is introduced as another new player for Sparks, although he is the mangers son, he is treated less fairly than the other players.
As you get through the episodes, I feel as if less happens, the biggest and most eventful stories are right at the beginning.
Most of the episodes are written by Liz Lake, with a few written by other people, in my opinion you can see the difference in the episodes not written by Liz Lake, and I think there is something about her episodes that are better.
Tanya Turner - the ultimate footballers wife, and one of the only original characters leaves half way through the series, which is huge dissappointment. Tanya was my favourite character, and Footballers Wives is not the same without her. Although I love this series, I don't think that it is as good as previous series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How Series 3 ended
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shannon had been out with the Footballers Wives before the final game and had still not got used to the life and the way to act as a footballers wife, she took advantage of all the free champagne and had way too much to drink, resulting in her collapsing in the toilets and missing Harley's goal, they have a huge argument and Shannon decides to go out clubbing on her own - not a good idea in the state she is in. While in the glitzy, celebrity club Shannon sees Darius who tries to kiss her which is caught on camera by some girls in the club who send the photos straight to the newspapers. The pictures are plastered all over the next days newspapers and Harley sees a picture of Shannon kissing Darius and immediately assumed Shannon was cheating on him. Shannon and Harley are separated at the start of series 4 due to all of this.
Noah was recently outed by Tanya Turner as gay and at the end of series 3 he is attacked by some Earls Park supporters who don't agree with him being gay.
Kyle Pascoe had a really tough time in series 3, having lost his wife Chardonnay and having a gambling problem. Kyle doesn't appear in series 4 but it is explained that Kyle went to Australia to retire.
The main cliffhanger in series 3 was Tanya Turner watching a video left by her late husband Frank Laslett, telling her he had got revenge on her by getting her pregnant, he had cut holes in all the condoms they had used! Tanya was under the impression than the baby was Conrad Gates' who she was now living with, also living with Conrad's wife he was seperated from Amber Gate, who was also pregnant, but he felt obliged to stand by her for the baby. The series also ended with Amber planting drugs in Tanyas bag, in an attempt to get Conrad all to herself!
Welcome to the very glamourous yet complicated and eventful life of Footballers Wives!
Episode Synopsis for Series 4
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~Do not read Episode Synopsis if you do not want to know what happens!!~~~~~
Episode One
Written by Liz Lake, Produced by Cameron Roach and Directed by Laurence Moody.
Series 4 of Footballers Wives kicks off with The Sparks on what is supposed to be a relaxing team holiday in Spain, but things are never that simple in Footballers Wives! When a poolside party gets out of hand, the team soon find themselves in trouble with the police for a reported rape of a girl called Katie.
Bruno Milligan is new to the series, played by Ben he is The Sparks latest signing, he likes to have a laugh with the lads and play around and thinks what his wife Lucy, also new to the series, doesn't know won't hurt her.
Fans of Bad Girls will remember Tanya Turners stint in the show. In the show, Tanya returns at the start of Series 4 ready to give birth as well as Amber! Tanya is worried sick that the baby she desperately wants to be Conrads is really Franks. Determined that Conrad should never find out, Tanya has a cunning plan up, involving her spiking Ambers drink to induce an early labour! As Amber goes into labour Tayna makes sure her doctor gives her a caesarean at the same time. Amber's private midwife is revealed to be none other than the Nurse Dunkley, that if you are a previous Footballers Wives fan you will rememeber! Amber gives birth to a baby boy but Nurse Dunkley rushes him straight away, meanwhile Tanya has arranged for Nurse Dunkley to swap the two babies, just so it can never be proved that Frank really was the father of Tanyas baby. Amber names her baby Pundarik. The episode ends with a huge scream from Nurse Dunkley - Krishna, Ambers awful dog has sat on and suffocated Pundarik!
A fantastic, event packed episode with so much going on, this is a great and sensational first episode.
Episode Two
Written by Liz Lake, Produced by Cameron Roach and Directed by Richard Signy.
The episode kicks off with Conrad and Amber burying their newly born son Pundarik who is really Tanyas son, who she got Nurse Dunkley to swap at birth. Meanwhile Jackie and Roger are getting married and the team and their wives attend the lavious garden party reception.
Tanya and Conrad start looking for a nanny for their baby Troy, who is Amber and Conrads unknown but real baby. They settle on a downy looking nanny - Katie Jones! Katie is the poor girl who was raped in Spain by one of Sparks players, she has disgiused herself so no one recognises her, shes out for revenge and the only clue Katie has to her rapists identity is a distinctive tattoo she remembers seeing on bum, she is on a mission to find the mystery tattoo owner but finds out all the Sparks players have it, apart from Harley.
Shannon and Harley reunite and move into a new house together, she promises Harley she will be the perfect wife and goes all out to impress the other wives by offering to host Hazel Baileys birthday party.
Noah has joined the Church of the Found who promise that they will be able to cure him of his homosexuality. The leader Tim is a reformed gay man and introduces Noah to his own wife Sarah and daughter, Bethany. Noah is on a misson to change, but his true feelings can't go away, determined to change he asks Bethany out on a date.
The episode ends with Amber mouring her sons death and goes to pay her respects in his nursery, she has always been puzzled about her son's light complexion but everything begins to click when she finds a bottle of fake tan hidden in his belongings.
Episode Three
Written by Ann McManus & Maureen Chadwick, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by Richard Signy.
We start to see more of the two new characters Bruno and Lucy Milligan, the episode shows how controlling Bruno is to Lucy and they even end up in a fight which sees Lucy hurting her hand and her beautiful daughter Lucy seeing it all.
It's the day of baby Troy's Greek themed christening, Noah is nominated to be godfather and Tanya plays the role of proud mum, unaware that Amber is hell bent on revenge.
Episode Four
Written by Liz Lake, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by Roberto Bangura.
Conrad is furious when a DNA test proves that Amber is Troy's real mother. After giving up all her money and her share in Earls Park, Tanya leaves in a helicopter, bound for a flight to Rio. Conrad and Amber now have thier baby back and rename him Phoenix.
Bruno opens a private members' club named Nabakov's Cocoon and all the team, wives and paparazi are invited, so Noah takes the opportunity to show off his newfound heterosexuality.
Roger goes scouting for a new player but it's not hard to do the deal as it's his son, Seb.
Episode Five
Written by Liz Lake, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by Roberto Bangura.
Harley is struggling with Shannon's constant desire for celebrity, especially as the couple are now filming a fly on the wall documentary, in the style of Nick and Jessica which aired on MTV!
Seb is putting so much effort into training, he just wants to please his dad, but this is proving to be a lot harder than you would think. Things finally start to look up for Seb when he is picked as a sub for an upcoming match.
Conrad decides he wants to win Amber back, but she has other ideas. Amber is given the chance to record a single for a top record producer, which she is estatic about but things don't quite go as smoothly as she'd hoped for.
Episode Six
Written by Guy Picot, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by S.J Clarkson.
Conrad decides to get some new tattoos spawn over his back in an attempt to win back his Amber.
Nabakov's Cocoon is front page news for all the wrong reasons and it looks like this might the end for the newly opened private members club. We start to see even more of Brunos violent and aggressive side as he vents his anger onto his poor wife Lucy. Lucy is left feeling terrified and alone, and turns to the only person she thinks understands her - her new internet friend.
Episode Seven
Written by Liz Lake, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by S.J Clarkson.
Jackie kisses Seb, his plan to destroy the Webb family unit is working. He continues to cause trouble for the couple. When Roger storms out, Seb takes advantage of Jackies vunerable state and takes the oppurtunity to drive an even bigger wedge between the couple.
Lucy thinks she has at last found a soul mate in her new internet friend Giles, they meet and theres certainly a spark between them.
Episode Eight
Written by Guy Picot, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by Roberto Bangura.
As time passes, Lucy's friendship with Giles continues to grow and she finds it hard to hide her growing attraction to him although Bruno knows that his wife is up to something Lucy is becoming expert at covering her tracks and Bruno can find no evidence. Worried that Bruno will find out and what his reaction will be, Lucy ends her romance with Giles. Bruno later gives Lucy a necklace to apologise for his apauling behaviour, what she doesn't realise is that Bruno has fitted it with a tracking device.
Roger and Jackies problems continue, and Roger is starting to suspect that Seb has something to do with it.
All these events are leading up to a dramatic end of series climax, and the last episode is one not to be missed.
Episode Nine
Written by Liz Lake, Produced by Cameron Roach, Directed by Roberto Bangura.
Lucy discovers the tracking device and is furious and she plans her escape from Bruno and runs off straight into the arms of Giles. Things get dirty between the pair as they fight to get one up on each other.
This episodes brings all the questions you had and brings everything to a dramatic end!
Good review but I can't believe they managed to stretch this to four series. I think Kyle went to that well known soap stars retirement home called The Bill.
I used to love this but towards the end it just went from being funny and over-the-top to being a complete farce! Great review though. Px
