What else you gonna do on a Saturday?
Review of Football Factory DVD by beanie8844

Advantages: Danny Dyer gives a convincing performance
Disadvantages: too much swearing, drug taking and racism

...1997. The main theme is football violence, a phenomenon which has continued in Britain since the 1970's. The storyline follows the firms of Chelsea and Millwall, the Headhunters and Bushwackers respectively, on many away trips up and down the country until the two are drawn to play each other in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The story is told by Tommy Johnson played by Danny Dyer, he is the main character about thirty years old with a steady job, ...
...For a film centrally about football you see hardly any, not even sure if a ball is kicked during the entire 91 minutes! Most of the plot features either the Headhunters or the Bushwackers before and after matches, either fighting opposing firms or in the pub taking the micky out of one another over a few drinks and drugs. I found the drug taking in this film rather unnecessary and believe it was only in there to give the film a bit more 'street cred', ... Read review

Definatly Worth A Watch
Review of Football Factory DVD by Steboyuk

Advantages: The Genre, Danny Dyer's performance
Disadvantages: Not a patch on the book

The Football Factory directed by Nick Love, is firmly based on John King's brilliant novel of the same title. I would definalty advise you to read that before the film, although its not a neccesity. The film deals with young lads from a firm following Chelsea Football Club, and how they have a passion for going out on a saturday afternoon and beating seven shades of shit out of lads from other firms. The film also looks at the what lives these types ...
...it, I am into my football and I am also into my away days and whilst I am more certinaly not a football fan I really feel an understanding with the films motives and the characters personailites. It kept you guessing throughout and does have its comedy moments. However it does have its downsides, the fight scenes are very average and it will only interest a pretty small audience. For me, its not a patch on some of Nick Love's other films, such as ... Read review

What women want
Review of Football Factory DVD by gf6141a20

Advantages: Good sense of humour
Disadvantages: A lot of mindless violence

...is a review about a football film on DVD. I wasnt keen on watching it, but having watched it I guess I can make it my first review... After said boyfriend had badgered me for weeks, I eventually caved and let him buy the dark red box that is 'The Football Factory' DVD. After much persuasion (and promises of tea in the morning) I decided to watch it with him one night when the kids were in bed. What I expected was a mindless lot of violence (we've ...
...film is based around some football thugs who run whats known as a 'firm'. This 'firm' go around fighting firms from other football clubs up and down the country. But behind the violence is a story of a young man known as 'Tommy Johnson'. Through the introduction of his grandfather and various others, we begin to see that Tommy, despite his weekend persona, is human after all. I don't want to say too much about the plot itself lest I ruin it for you ... Read review

Are you ready for a football ruck? ?
Review of Football Factory DVD by jack1foord

Advantages: A very strong film and leaves you thinking.
Disadvantages: Storyline could be better.

...is a film based on football hooliganism, this film mainly focuses on the sides Headhunters, who support Chelsea F.C., and the Bushwackers, who support Millwall F.C. Throughout the film the headhunters fight with other football firms, these include Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Liverpool F.C., and Stoke City F.C.. The film mainly focuses on "Tommy johnson" who is a hooligan in his late 20's who is looking at his life, and thinking is this what he really ...
...due to the better structured storyline. So if you like Football factory should defiantly give Green street hooligans a go. However this is a good British football hooligans film which has a very strong message, and shows many emotions, and wants your wanting more. cheers 5/5 ... Read review

Fancy a ruck?
Review of Football Factory DVD by Adz1978

Advantages: Good Hooli movie
Disadvantages: Only for a target audience

football Hooliganism is a subject that has spawned a few movies, but only two worthy of any note The Firm (with Gary oldman) from the 80's and ID from the 90's. Both films are very watchable. The Football Factory, in case you didnt know, is a movie based around the book by John King centralling on the taboo subject of football hooliganism. Many people believe, as the national press led them to believe, that the football hooligan and Football Casual ...
...Tommy is part of a football hooligan gang following Chelsea FC. As the movie progresses Danny has to deal with in-fighting amongst fellow members of his firm, and also the personal dillema of self discovery - what does he want out of life? As the movie progresses Tommy delves into drugs and has visions of his own downfall, being mortally hurt during a pre-arranged ruck. The various firms are involved in a number of battles before the fianl showdown ... Read review

Special Features The special features that come with this DVD are… Audio commentary from writer/director Nick Love and actor Danny Dyer Deleted and extended scenes The Making Of The Football Factory Music videos Price & Availability I had this DVD bought for me a few years ago seen as the person that bought it knew I was a fan of Green Street, so I don't know how much my copy of this cost but I would of thought from new it would have been around £15-£17. I have never seen this DVD in supermarkets even ones that have a variety of older productions available, the only place I have ever seen this DVD is advertised online from anything from £5 to £15 I am sure it would be available from play.com or Amazon or even a cheaper second hand copy from eBay. Pants street!
Review of Green Street DVD by  ady_ankle

Advantages: a watchable film
Disadvantages: not really english holiganism at its best

...I though when i fisrt heard about this fillm that it was going to be another football factory, which i really enjoyed and thought was a great film, i was wrong. I rented this DVD from blockbuster for a whopping £3.75 which i think for this load of rubbish was a lot to pay. I have watched some bad films in my time and a lot i have had to switch off half way through. This one was not quite that bad and i did watch the entire film. Elijah Wood is the main character in the film and is a American student who has been expelled from uni. He comes to England to stay with his sister and her husband. His sisters husband has a brother who is a Football mad bloke and who gets himself into a fair bit of trouble. The chap who plays the other main charater (the brether of his sisters husband) is in my opinion one of the worst actors who has... Read review

Blow Me Away? I'm Still Here.
Review of The Business DVD by  Nathan_Innit

Advantages: Worth a watch.
Disadvantages: Not as good as other films.

...This film will blow you away.. is the tagline, but I was left very underwhelmed after watching my copy of The Business DVD. As a fan of Danny Dyer I felt compelled to watch this film, and I'm sure fans of the genre such as The Football Factory and Green Street will have also wanted to give the film a look. It is unlike those films though, and makes those films look more football orientated than crime orientated like The Business. Based in the 1980's, the film follows a character named 'Frankie' as he moves from South London to Malaga with nothing but a tin of money to deliver that will be the kick stand to his life of crime as he rises to higher and higher levels of his new gang lifestyle. Sex, drugs, swearing and violence validates the 18 certificate for the film. It's clear that this film has been set for a certain audiance... Read review
