Advantages: Kate and Matthews chemistry, some funny parts, easy to watch Disadvantages: simple plot, sometimes cheesy, gets a bit boring
Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson team up again after their success in How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days for this new comedy. Expectations weren't that great for this 2008 film and much hype did not really surround it-luckily for the producers and directors.

Advantages: Great cast, special effects Disadvantages: Predictable action
Fool's gold is the movie that makes you feel that you're in one of the best vacations for 112 minutes. It has action, adventure and humor, all in equal quantities. The best thing is that they've put Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, we know they look good in the movie How to lose a guy in ten days.
Matthew plays the role of Ben "Finn" Finnegan, a treasure hunter who dedicates his whole energy trying to find 40 chests full of lost gold in the ... ...there are minuses to the movie, like the predictable action, or the bad guy who can't intimidate anyone (Kevin Hart), but still for those who appreciate movies with treasure hunting, Fool's gold is an option. Enjoy the show and don't forget to bring your tanning lotion with you. ...

...I have seen quite a few films this week, and have been really enjoying seeing so many different genres of films. The film that I chose to review this week which I enjoyed watching was a film called Fool's Gold. Personally I hadn't even heard about it until a friend mentioned it was really funny and a great film, once I looked into it I noticed my magazine had reviewed it and given it a good rating. I also noticed the two main stars of the film are Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey who have worked together previously in one of my favourite films 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' so I was hoping this would be just as good.
The film starts with Ben Finn (Matthew McConaughey), who we find out is a treasure hunter, looking for treasure lost at sea in the 1700's. While dedicating his time to looking for this treasure, his marriage to Tess...

Advantages: a few obvious but funny moments Disadvantages: Could have been better and had more potential than it showed
...When Finn (Matthew McConaughey) finally stumbles upon a clue as to the location of the lost Spanish treasure he has spent his life looking for the timing couldn't be worse. Having just seen his boat sink and his wife Tess (Kate Hudson) divorcing him, he is still determined to find the treasure they had both spent years looking for. Somehow he manages to convince Tess and the millionaire whose boat she is working on to help him find the treasure. Of course an old employer of Finn has been employed by the owner of the Island to find the treasure as well and what ensues is a race between the two teams to find the treasure first.
I wasn't particularly sure what to expect from Fool's Gold. I'd originally assumed, wrongly, that it was going to be another film in the Dirk Pitt series following on from Sahara. So I went along to the cinema...

...Finn is obsessed with finding the legendary Queen's Dowry, lost at sea in 1715. He has poured everything he had into the treasure hunt, including his marriage to Tess. Just as Tess is managing to rebuild her life, working aboard millionaire Nigel Honeycutt's yacht, Finn manages to get on board and convince Nigel and his dim daughter Gemma to join the quest. But Finn's former mentor Moe and a gangster named Bigg Bunny are also hot on the trail…
As everyone knows, the secret to good comedy is timing. But it's the one thing "Fool's Gold" director Andy Tennant lacks on a grand scale. Many gags are allowed to go on way too long. This is especially true of the opening scene where we see calamity unfold on Finn's boat while he and his dive partner remain oblivious; sadly this sets the scene for all to follow. But it isn't just the sight gags...
