Advantages: Rhythm, a fantastic photograpy and the music Disadvantages: If you don't like flamenco, forget about it
If you have been always curious about flamenco, this is your movie. Carlos Saura, a well known Spanish director, already made the miracle of bringing this type of music to the general public with Sevillanas, and now he gets it right again with this film.
It may sound boring a film of people just singing and dancing one after another, but Saura manages to make a story of all of it, to give it more sense than just an exotic entertainment; he makes it magic and, even if you don't fancy the music, it won't leave you indifferent
With top flamenco stars (singers and dancers) like Paco de Lucia and Joaquin Cortez, and the incredible photography of Vittorio Storaro, Flamenco is vigorous, beautiful, moving and intensely passionate. ...
Advantages: excellen as an insight to flamenco guitar Disadvantages: flamenco is hard! not reccomended for beginners
I have been playing guitar for roughly two years now and due to my eagerness to learn different styles this book provided me with the perfect oppertunity to learn flamenco, it even came with a dvd (there are also some cd copies i am led to believe).
The first thing that i noticed when starting this book is that this is PLAY flamenco guitar, not LEARN flamenco guitar. There is not much teaching of the techniques that are used in flamenco guitar (if you watch the dvd really closely you may be able to pick some up for yourself), therefore i would reccomend this only to players with experience (not neccesarily in the flamenco style but with a good grounding in playing accoustics and having some ability to play fingerstlye). There are only about 3 pages in this book that contain theory.
That said for those who have some experience this book ...
Advantages: No springs to wear out and poke through Disadvantages: light so can move when you're fitting sheet
We had been looking for a new bed for ages and hadn't found anything that was soft enough to be comfortable yet offered enough support for us. My partner suffers from back and neck pains so support with comfort was important. We had bad experiences with even expensive sprung mattresses wearing out quickly and so weren't keen on getting even a top of the range sprung mattress. When we found a Dunlopillo stockist and tried out their range we were delighted. They offer a range from 100% latex (most expensive) to I think 25% latex 75% dunlopreme foam (cheapest) in various firmness and base options (sprung slat, sprung edge and platform). The Flamenco is a 50% Latex 50% Dunlopreme foam matress and we had the platform base as the matress felt firmer and so suited us better. Since buying it we wake up feeling as if we have had a sound ...
