The Flintstones is a great comedy with a good plot and some terrificly skilled actors. Perhaps in some occasions it may seem a little over sexy for a family movie, but most of it is good and suitable for all ages. Fred Flinstone and Barney are played really well, but the wives perhaps could be a little better! I would not call this film bad as I think that it is quite decent, and the plot and acting are good, and the way that the stone-age technology ...

A cartoon series which most of all love, is The Flintstones. I grew up with the Flintstones and loved every episode. I, used to wake up at 7am n Sunday mornings to watch it when I was little but it’s always on the cartoon network channel at regular intervals. There are Fred and Wilma, who live next door to Barney and Betty (The Rubbles). It’s the guys who always seem to get caught up in some mischief and adventure, with Wilma and Betty ... ...work in a quarry in Bedrock and that’s where most of their adventures take place, but it can be anywhere in the cinema or at home. Nothing is ever simple, but luckily everything always works out ok in the end. I love the houses they live in rocks type huts, the choice of transports is quite amusing, Fred seems to have to drive it with his own feet, a bit weird but works non the same. The cartoon seems to be set in the old age, so it’s ...

The original Flintstones film was a novelty item and a chance to see how the goofy props would appear on film. The performance of John Goodman as Fred was excellent and the right person for the role. Flintstones – Viva Rock Vegas was pitiful. It is another example of how not to make a sequel. The performances were dire and the storyline of the how Fred & Wilma met was thin. I was dragged in to watch this by my kids who said it was “OK” but they were ...

Advantages: cartoon show Disadvantages: very poor adaptation
I am a huge Flintstone fan. I use to watch the cartoon show all the time when I was a kid and I still do. But when I heard about the Flintstone movie I was so excited. When I saw The Flintstones in the cinema, I really didn't like the movie. The acting was terrible. I was a little disappointed that they put John Goodman as Fred Flintstone. He didn't even look like Fred. Rick Moranis played a great Barney Rubble and Elizabeth Perkins as Wilma was ...

...seriously... why would you make a FLINTSTONES movie starring Mark Addy and Stephen Baldwin? I mean, the biggest names in this film are Joan Collins and Harvey Korman. Whatever... this film is easy absolutely the first film in what could be a really cool franchise if they keep these people together.
Mark Addy IS Fred Flintstone. At all times, his voice and face do that Ralph Kramden/Fred gargle commanding tone thing. When he’s whispering... he sounds like Fred. When he’s exclaiming... he’s Fred. He is FRED FLINTSTONE. He wears the clothes better. He has thought clouds, when he’s feeling little... he’ll physically shrink.... when he’s in love hearts will sprout all over the screen. When he becomes greedy, his eyes will grow big and do the slot machine thing landing on dollar signs. He does the twinkle toes thing. He... well... He’s Fred...

Advantages: Surprisingly entertaining in parts Disadvantages: Low budget written all over it, bad jokes, shakeyourheadable
...The other weekend, my wife, my son and I decided to sit down and watch a film as a family. There didn't seem to be much on TV, so we settled for the ITV afternoon movie, which happened to be Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas. For those of you who are familiar with the cartoon series or who have seen the first Flintstones film, this takes us back in time to when Fred was courting Wilma and Barney was courting Betty, before they were married and had houses next to each other and kids, etc.
So, after half an hour, my wife had fallen asleep and my son had lost all interest, but I found myself strangely riveted to the TV screen. It was a corny film with helpings of cheese, bad gags and some dodgy acting, but I guess it did what it was supposed to do and filled the niche of the weekend afternoon family film. It's mainly targeted at kids...

...I liked the cartoon when I was a kid. After I saw it I think people have been too critical. I really enjoyed the movie. There were numerous parts where myself and the audience laughed. I'd give this movie a 7 out of 10.
The props and effects were very creative and it was funny and enjoyable seeing how they tried to make a live action movie mimic the television cartoon. The movie had a lot of cleaver inventions that used animals or stone age technology.
Perhaps some people rated this low because they went to the movie expecting something other than the Flintstones. This a movie based on a cartoon and therefore it should be the way it is. The movie does a good job of providing light-hearted and cute humor like what was done in the television show.
If you liked the Flintstones television cartoon then I think you'll like...
