This film was in a similar vein to ‘the first men in the moon’ by H.G Wells, but not written anywhere nearly as well.
A spaceship, with all of Earth latest technology, is launched to Mars with the hope of one day colonising the dead planet.
However once there the crew meet live Martians who are very unfriendly and want to steal and use Earths technology in order to launch ... ...and take the Earth over as their world is completely spent of all its resources.
The scientist aboard the ship must come up with ingenious plans and devices to thwart the Martians all the while shadowed by the obligatory wise cracking reporter that always seemed to accompany space explorers in these films.
You can easily guess the outcome, no twists or turns just them as the baddies and us as the good guys.

There is of course a love interest and she does most of the high pitched screaming throughout the film.
Oh one more thing the Martians look exactly like us, what a pity. Clearly the special effects budget was minimal. Even the Martians ray guns are a bit sad. Cheap tacky spaceship sets and even worse 'special effects' a term I use in its loosest term. The plot is ok, just, and the film does chug along at a fair pace. The dialog is a bit poor but all in all it is not that bad a movie.

Evil Martians plotting to invade the Earth.
A space ship is launched for the first landing on Mars. But when they get there Mars is full of Martians and they are not the friendliest bunch. The Martians are running low on all of their resources and plan to invade and occupy the Earth.
The scientist and big mouth reporter who accompanied them are Earths only hope of stopping the invasion.
The Martians turn out to look ... ...story and some weird looking weapons.
The plot of the movie is poor and smacked of ‘first men in the moon’. The special effects where above average for the day it was made and the acting was good apart from the Martians who way over acted and hammed it up far too much.
The actors alk around looking a bit dazed as if they are nit sure waht they are doing there, I quite agree.
A so-so movie and the jury is sill out on this one.
Worth one watch, ...

futurama is about a group of people who work for a company called planet express. the main character is a man called fry and he was accidnently frozen for 1000 years and know he works for his only relitive left along with leela, bender and many more.
the graphics are good and it is a good storyline to follow and you wont get bored of watching the all the series something new happens every episode!
season 1 contains 3 discs and 12 episodes they are : fear of a bot planet, a fishfull of dollars, my three souls, a big piece of garbage, hell is other robots, a flightto remember, mars university, when aliens attack, fry & the slurm factory,space pilot 3000, the series has landed, i roomate, love's labours lost in space
this series is amazing and a must buy! ...

i took someones advice and never went the the picture to watch this i waited for the video, well i would have had more fun watching paint dry, sorry but that's how i feel about this film.
Having last week watched mission tomars which i felt was nothing special, this did even less for me, just another typical long haul space flighttomars.
The scenario is earth or more to the point the people on earth have screwed up the environment so years earlier they set out to terraform mars by sending algea. Enter space voyage.
Anyway a craft crewed by 6 astronauts (5 male and 1 female who plays the captain) heads off into space taking with them a military robot which can be programmed to act as a surveyor, on arrival at mars they encounter a solar flare which fries most of the ships systems. The captain decides to abandon ship but ...
