Advantages: Everything you need to know about Billy Fury. Disadvantages: It's still not long enough!!!!
...This is a fabulous biography of 60s rocker Billy Fury. I've been a fan since I was nine years old and I was over the moon when this was released. For any fan, the recent Billy Fury revival - the release of this DVD and the accompanying CD entering the Top 20 - has been a long time coming and I for one am over the moon that he seems to be being recognized once again.
The DVD has 20 chapters spanning Billy's life and career from the early years in 1940s Liverpool to his death in 1983. It includes information about the music scene in general in the 60s and of Billy's specific place in what is now rock and roll history. It tells of his first audition, his work for Larry Parnes and his friendships with his peers at the time. It details his recordings, his tours and his movies with lots of little anecdotes from his friends, family...

Advantages: An unusual, largely unheard of, comedy treat Disadvantages: Quality varies over all 12 episodes, no DVD extras
...Allow me to clear this up for a start - 'Flight of the Conchords (FotC)' is NOT some kind of tribute DVD for faster than the speed of sound, now sadly defunct, aircraft.
However, it IS a collection of the 12-part comedy series (seen by about 36 people on BBC4 in 2007) that originally launched on HBO in the USA.
Focussing on New Zealand's 4th biggest folk band of the same name, Flight of the Conchords follows the adventures of an hirsute musical duo (New Zealanders Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie) as they try to make it big in New York. Whilst the pair play their roles seriously in the show , in real-life they write and sing parodies, perform at festivals and featured in a Radio 2 show that starred Rob Brydon as their manager!
HBO seems to have a penchant for spotting comedic talent (have a look at my review of 'Entourage...

Advantages: Quite funny, some cool table tennis scenes Disadvantages: A little too slapstick and saturated with too many jokes.
...I admit it is quite a retarded show. At first, I had high hopes for the humour level of Balls of Fury after hearing by friends putting it in good books. However, it was as nonsensical as its movie name. The show stars Dan Fogler, who acts as Randy Daytona battle through the ranks of table tennis, fighting players such as "The Dragon", a nine-year old girl and ultimately competing in a high level competition against a kleptomaniac who is being hunted down by the FBI. Full of slapstick humour and nonsensical lingos, this show is indeed funny but saturated with so many jokes that it gets boring after a while. However, it is quite a new concept and definitely worth a watch for a few laughs! Happy watching!...
