Far From What I Expected
Review of Silent Hill DVD by  sghawken

Advantages: Stunning visuals
Disadvantages: The very dire Sean Bean

...into the air from the very heart of Silent Hill. From this white looms buildings, buildings like any other but deserted, and derelict; and for quite some considerable time too. Through this darkness Rose believes that she sees Sharon and chases off after her, Sharon all the time that little bit faster than Rose. No sooner has this chase began than your ears are hit by the sound of an air raid siren, and a sudden and tragic impending darkness. While the floor runs with blood, the walls and doors crumble and fall like rotting flesh. And from the darkness come creatures so disturbing looking, you'd be hard push to have seen creatures like these before. Silent Hill hides the terror true terror in these merging's of white and darkness, and the sound of the air raid siren. I watched Silent Hill on a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon but I have no doubts... Read review

Uncut in the UK for the 1st time!
Review of Flesh For Frankenstein DVD by  stu-willis

Advantages: Uncut, anamorphic widescreen
Disadvantages: Still awaiting a definitive version

...FILM: Previously banned in the UK as a 'video nasty', FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN is Paul Morrissey's camp, gory homage to classic Hammer films. With an International cast including the one and only Udo Kier (MARK OF THE DEVIL; SUSPIRIA) and Joe Dallesandro (HEAT; TRASH), this has built a steady cult following over the last 30 years and it's not hard to see why: Gore aplenty (courtesy of FX artist Carlo Rambaldi [ET; ALIEN]), plentiful nudity and kinky sex, and loads of weird European humour just to baffle us all. It's great, camp fun with some of the most ludicrous, quotable dialogue ever - including Kier's infamous line about the gall bladder (unrepeatable here!). DISC: Tartan's disc is uncut, 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen (a little soft at times), and has a great commentary from Morrissey and Kier. There's also 23 minutes' of stills... Read review

Silent Hill Movie
Review of Silent Hill DVD by  stevogarvey

Advantages: A good watch, some interesting adaptaions.
Disadvantages: Not entirly true to the video games.

...is corrupted in the way that her own flesh was wounded." "It's interesting because the town itself mirrors this fractured psychology--different dimensions, different doubles of the same person." MUSIC The score to the film consists of the music from Akira Yamaoka's soundtracks to the four main games in the video game series. They were arranged by the film composer Jeff Danna, with some tracks appearing in almost identical form to their in-game counterparts, while others were recreated entirely. SEQUAL It has been announced that a sequel will be made called "Silent Hill 2" which is describes as being "well in the way" by Hans. PERSONAL OPIONION Yer, Silent Hill is well worth a watch, although not entirely true to the actual video games, its general adaptation is true to the style of Silent Hill which reflects the involvement of the video game...
