Advantages: Appeals to poker fans, good camera work Disadvantages: Poor acting, over technical dialogue, an overly glossy look
...street shops. So it is no surprise that the men behind the Hollywood movies would attempt to tap into this current fad with a glossy, star studded film about the world of poker. Whilst they have certainly achieved in making a very engrossing, slick drama, they have failed to portray the life of a gambler in anything but a glamorous light.
The concept behind the film of an ex-gambler being dragged back into the world of high stakes poker is actually quite good and sort of demonstrates the allure of the cards that any gambler has. But sadly the writers have failed to capitalize on this interesting premise by not only failing to show the life of a gambler realistically but also focussing too heavily on the drama at the poker tables than away from it. Advantages: This is a movie you'll want to watch over & over again Disadvantages: None
...from a hard-bitten & cynical womaniser, finally to a rounded loving, caring & exemplary member of the Society he initially despises. Not at any time does this appear sentimental or corny. It is as much a deeply moving experience as a comedy. Harold Ramis' brilliant direction and pacing draws you into the central character's desperate frustration at the one extreme, and on the other lets you empathise completely with Murray's growing realisation that doing good and loving other people is a far more satisfying way of spending even 'just one day' than using others, and taking what you can get from those in your life.
An absolute hoot, triple AAA and five star romp through this astonishingly moving and hilarious story.
One you will want to watch again and again and find something different each time....

Advantages: Wide view of Picture as intended for cinemas Disadvantages: Unsuitable view for Portable DVD's
...The third and final part (as of yet) of the Die Hard series and Bruce Willis is back this time alongside Samuel L Jackson.
This Widescreen version is suitable for anyone who's television set as the ability to show widescreen pictures. With this you can see more of the film has it was intended to be seen at the cinema. Sometimes films are cut to fit onto standard screen sizes. The film is probably the best of the three films and Jackson gives Willis a run for his money in the action scenes.
The Villian played by Jeremy Irons although not as good has Alan Rickman in the first Die Hard film does an excellent potrayal of a German villian. If you are a fan of the series but have only watched them on television (with adverts betwween) then go and purchase this film and see how it was intended to be seen....
