Fireman Sam - Let It Snow (DVD)

My son is a huge Fireman Sam fan I think we have nearly all of the dvds now apart from the new computer animated ones.

The Fireman Sam series is a fictitious village set in Pontypandy in Wales, the real towns that the stories are based on are Pontypridd and Tonypandy.
I remember a long time ago when Fireman Sam first came out on S4C in Wales!
On the front of the cover is a christmas scene but there is only one christmas ...

With each episode comes a safety message for children and I think this gets them thinking about what dangers could lurk inside and outside the house. Like for example we have a safety gate by the kitchen door which my son hates but he knows that when I am cooking the kitchen is hot and it is not safe for him.

**Let It Snow**

It is christmas in Pontypandy and there are no christmas trees at the garden centre, there is also heavy snow with a warning of more snow on the way. Norman Price goes off on his own with his sledge and dog to look for a christmas tree in pontypandy mountains, he manages to get snowed in a cave.
Sam and the team head off to look for him with dusty the dog, eventually they dig him out.
Norman is told never to go off on his own again without telling an adult first

** Fiery Finale**

Rain is in the air,Sam, Penny and Trevor are getting things ready for a talent show. Norman, the twins and Mandy practice their acts but Norman cannot decide on what to do.
Meanwhile Elvis manages to get his guitar onto the stage before it starts raining, he sets his guitar up and is about to practice but Station officer Steele tells him its time for him to go to work so he switches off the guitar and off to work he goes. Norman decides to play the guitar and makes a dreadful noise! Trevor takes the guitar off Norman and tells him Elvis would not want him to use it.

At the station Officer Steele tells the fire crew that only one of them can go to the talent contest and that will be him. Officer Steele then goes off to the talent show and practices his song I`m a little teapot!
While Officer Steele is singing Norman messes around with one of the guide ropes and water from the stage roof goes all over the floor and over Elvis`s guitar which catches fire!
Officer Steele unplugs the guitar and the fire brigade are called, Sam soon puts out the fire. Elvis`s guitar is wrecked and Norman is told that messing around with anything electrical is not a good idea.

**Joker Soaker**

In this episode there is a water shortage so Sam uses dish water to wash his fire engine and then puts the rest on the flowers. Norman recieves a parcel it is a joker soaker he fills it up with water and gets into mischief! Sam catches Norman and tells him not to waste water but Norman does not listen and soon gets up to even mischief by soaking Station Officer Steele.
Dusty is very thirsty but cannot find any water he manages to get stuck in some railings, Tom goes past and talks to him but does not notice that Dusty is stuck.
Norman continues with his mischief but eventually helps to rescue Dusty and could it be that Sam turns things around and a joke is played on Norman?!

**Pizza Palava**

A new pizza oven is installed in Bella`s Cafe but soon disasters strikes after Norman lands up kicking his ball at the chimney and a birds nest falls down it. Bella lights the oven not knowing about the birds nest, Trevor soon smells a lot of smoke and gets the fire extinguisher, he tells everyone to leave the shop and calls the fire brigade.
Sam has to go up on the Simon snorkel and soon has the fire out, the shop is cleaned up and its pizzas all around.

**Twitchers in Trouble**

Officer Steele tells the fire crew that with the very long hot summer they have a big problem the grass is very dry and the fire brigade are to go on Red Alert.
The twins are helping Tom with the helicopter , they fill it up with water and tom puts red dye in as well.
Norman and Mandy are out looking for Woolly, Norman drops a glass bottle.
Dylis and Trevor go out bird watching, they soon land up in trouble because of Normans glass bottle.
The fire brigade are on their way but they have a problem so Tom saves the day by taking out his helicopter to the fire and dropping the water on the fire!

**What Do I think?**

This dvd is all about the different types of weather that we get snow,rain and sun and the consequences that are sometimes caused by the weather and other times caused by us humans.
There are 5 episodes on this dvd and each episode lasts around 10 minutes which is perfect for my son, he will usually watch 2 episodes and then go off and play with his toys.

I really like the Joker Soaker episode as at the moment my son is learning not to waste water. He has a paddling pool out in the garden, and a few weeks ago when we had some hot weather at the end of the day he would fill up his watering can and water the plants because that is what Fireman Sam would do!

In the dvd Norman Price is told it is not safe to play with electric, dropping litter like glass bottles in the grass is dangerous as it could start a fire and always make sure an adult knows where you are so if something happens they can find you.

Norman Price is a proper character full of fun and mischief and always lands up needing Fireman Sams help but I do wonder if he will ever learn his lesson as he never seems to be that sorry!
