Oh my this is one of the lovliest film in the world. yes Kate Winslet hasnt had the best reviews, but in this film, everything works so well together. I studied film studies at A Level, and even my 27 year old male tutor said it had him in tears every time he watched it!! I think even the hardest of people would be crying by the end credits!!! The story is based on the writer of Peter Pan, don't be mislead by the title...this isn't an interpretation on Peter Pan...its the story leading up to John Barry writing the story of Peter Pan and the experiences which lead him to write it. Its based on a true story as far as I'm aware, and its the most amazing film in the world. Marc Forsters direction in Finding Netherland is outstanding. I don't want to tell you about the storykline other than that John Barry is a married man, who is a playwrite, a failing playwrite. Until he meets a family, 3 young boys and their widowed mother...he gets a special connection with one of the boys, Peter, and he begins spending more andmroe time with them, telling them stories etc. Although it doesn't sound like a gripping storyline, you will be hooked after watching it!! And may I say Johnny Depp...yummy in this film!!!! :-D I thought this was a childrens film when I first bought it, but ater watching it, I would recommend it to young adults more than children, and make sure you have a box of cleenex next to you when watching the film!!! Seriously, it will hvae you in tears!!!!!!
