This was the perfect addition to the game. With the game u play as a soldier called Cloud who, along side his crew of people, is fighting both the dangerous Shinra Coorporation who are setting about giving power to cities but simaltaniously destroying the world. Then enters, Sephiroth, the most dangerous character within the game, when Sephiroth finds out that he was created from an alien called Genova he sets about setting his mother free from shinra's control and also taking revenge on the world. Meanwhile, one of Clouds saviours, Aeris, is killed by Sephiroth. In doing this he desroyed the last ancient, a group of people who were believed to have to knowledge to get to the promised land. Aeris created a prayer, Holy, with this Aeris and the planet were able to destroy Meteor, a spell which Sephiroth called down from the sky to destroy the planet. The game ends with a desperate battle between cloud and Sephiroth so that the planet might be saved. The film begins after this, shinra no longer draining the planet of its life force and Cloud continuing life in solitude. However the appearance of 3 motorcyclists whom continually try to kill Cloud. The reason being that they have the Jenova gene within them and they wish to bring a reunion of all the people with the Jenova gene. As a plauge blights the people of the world the three motorcyclists tell of a cure in order to create a reunion. Clouds aim was to stop this. however, unable to Sephiroth was brought back from the dead and a battle continues again between the two powerful warriors. Ending with brilliant effects.
As an original Final Fantasy VII fan, i was thrilled tio find out that they were bringing out a continuation in the form of a film. when the film came out i was by no means disappointed. The story making for the perfect continuation from Final Fantasy VII the game. Furthermore it has some of the best graphics from an anime film that i have ever seen, creating an awesome film whereby the characters and story follow perfectly form the game. All the characters have the same emotions and reactions as would be expected from them after playing the game. The use of monsters and sumons further along with some awesome battle scenes all make for the best film i have seen in a very long time.
Both the story and the awesome characters make this a great film. However the one problem is that without completing the game the story of the film may not make sense. The film makers have overcome this in a minor way by placing all of the computer game videos within the disc of the film. After playing this game this special feature does make for a pleasent reminder of what had happened and thus is important in creating a high quality film.
The extra disc is also a brilliant feature of this product. The making of the film gives an interesting guide into the way that the designers use the computers and shows how the film develops, from initial drawings to the final accomplishment of computer graphics. the best feature has to be the previews of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII games. I found myself looking forward to the games even more. the deleted scenes also give a further insight into the characetrs and show a better link with the game making for an intersting and a delightfully entertaining piece.
This film was by far one of the best anime films ever and i would recommend it to anyone that was a fan of the original game.
