Full review
This is a review on the newest film and one of the only films done by Square-Enix (the creators of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts), and finally have made the Final Fantasy VII movie, called Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, which is what I am reviewing. This film is not live action; it is animated, very good looks of it and keeps up with the standard of the game Final Fantasy VII which has been acclaimed the best Final Fantasy. It was done in the year 2004, and has been long awaited by many Final Fantasy fans, and is a really good film, and is much better then Spirits Within as that had no relevance to Final Fantasy what so ever.

Now for whom that have no back story of Final Fantasy VII, or final fantasy in general, then I shall explain here. Final Fantasy is a magical and adventure role playing game created by Square-Enix, and have created a series of games that are epically long and have decent stories. Final Fantasy VII Advent Children is two years after the Final Fantasy VII game, which has been acclaimed the best Final Fantasy game around. The characters from Final Fantasy VII game are in the film itself, but to understand the characters more, you should play the game, but this film does not need to game to make this film understandable, as they have made it sort of independant. Final Fantasy VII game is set in the future, and is mainly about this person named Cloud Striffe (whom is the main character in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children), Cloud use to be part of this group called Soldier, whom were this organization working for Shinra, which is this clan of people that own the city.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children has all the main characters from the game like Cloud, Tifa, and Barret etc. It has a good story, about this virus that is infecting lots of Children and as Cloud lives with these orphans, and is in search of finding a cure, which Aeris had around her bandage thing, which went into the water with her body in her flower place. Cloud still has memories of Aeris, and feels that he is carrying a burden because of the death of her, and he feels that he could have saved her. You will get flash back scenes, and illusions of her throughout the film.

Don't worry, just because it is set two years after the game, does not mean Cloud and the gang have gone soft, they can still kick ass, in many new ways. The story starts off like this. First you start off with some subtitles (as the film is in Japanese), then the camera pans down onto this cliff and you follow these giant wolves running that look like Red XIII, then after that, you go to this helicopter after the wolves, where you will hear gunshots in the background, with two soldiers requesting to be picked up by the helicopter, and it comes late, and one of them gets injured.

The person driving the helicopter is Rufus, then the opening credits start all cool like, and this young girl talking about life stream, and the story continues from there. In this film you will see lots of new faces, and some old ones. If you have seen the previous Final Fantasy movie called Final Fantasy Spirits Within, then this movie will blow you away. You will see Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Yuffie, Vincent (all cool like), Cid and Red XIII with Cat Saith riding him, and they all kick ass. But Shinra still have a part in the film, as they have a secret hiding, which these Sephiroth Clones know about.

The film is mainly about three Sephiroth Clones wanting to get the Jenova cell, so one of them may become Sephiroth, and be able to fulfil his dreams. Also has a side story of finding a cure for the virus that is infecting everyone. You will see a mixture of fighting and magic from materia, you will still get cool sword fights, kick ass punch ups, and they even fight Bahummet, which is such an awesome fight. The Sephiroth Clones are called Kadaj (the sort of leader of the three, and the coolest in sword technique, has a blade to fight with), Loz (probably the oldest out of the three, uses this machine thing on his arm for make him stronger and super fast, has a fight with Tifa) and Yazoo (the third out of the three, uses a gun, which can be really irritating if you are trying to have a duel), and they are after Cloud thinking that he has Jenova's Cell. They all have the same colour hair (silver), the same as Sephiroth, whom does eventually gets unleashed onto Cloud, but will Cloud be able to take him? Even now that he is wounded from his previous fight with him? Watch the film and find out.

I really did enjoy this film, it is one of my favourite films of all time, and is one of the best things Square-Enix has done. It has really good fight scenes, and keeps you hooked for ever, plus once you watch it, you will want to watch it more and more, as it is one of those films that never gets tiring and is just as good every time you watch it. The story was awesome, it was about these three clones of Sephiroth wanting Jenova's Cell so they can become Sephiroth and fulfils his ambitions, along with finding a cure for a virus, also the sort of twist at the end was decent too, and how everything just fits into place.

The characters are very good in this film, has all of the characters that did not die in the Final Fantasy VII game, even if some of them are in it for a split second, plus there are new people in it also which makes this film better, and more of a film. They are great performances, and do rock, and how the act, makes them real like, also they do look real from how they animated the film, just great. The special effects are amazing, with the explosions, the coolness of the end fight, was really good, and made the film top notch and is really good to watch it, the looks are amazing.

The soundtrack is awesome, it has the majority of the songs from the game, but done in Piano, which makes it sound so epic, and is very good to listen to, you get like the battle music when there is a punch up, and all that, is really cool. It is very good compared to other films; this is defiantly a film to watch for all fans of Final Fantasy and anyone in general. As you cannot buy this film yet, I cannot give you a price, but it is really good value at whatever price it is given when it is released. I found this film very good, I have watched it loads of times, and loved it loads, I give this film 5 star * * * * *, as everything about it was brilliant, and everyone will like it.
