James Wong (THE ONE), director of the original FINAL DESTINATION film, returns to direct the third instalment in the series, FINAL DESTINATION 3. High-school senior, Wendy (Mary...
more...Elizabeth Winstead), is enjoying senior night at the amusement park and taking photos for the school yearbook. As a control freak, she's not particularly fond of rides, especially the roller coaster. Despite her fear, Wendy decides to take the plunge, but is soon traumatised by a vision that a fatal accident is about to occur. Heeding caution, she and a group of her classmates, disembark from the ride and watch as the remaining thrill-seekers suffer a horrific fate. Having cheated death once, Wendy is tormented by an ominous feeling that something is very wrong. Her classmate, Kevin (Ryan Merriman), does some research and learns that something similar has happened before: a high-school student had a premonition that a plane filled with his classmates was doomed; a group of them refused to board, and the plane exploded in flight. Following that incident, the survivors all died under mysterious circumstances, their deaths following the same order as in the premonition. Wendy and Kevin realise that the same fate is about to befall all those who survived the rollercoaster. Perhaps more disturbing is that clues to the impending deaths seem to lie in the photos that Wendy took on the evening of the accident. In an instant, innocuous situations and common objects become fatal, causing particularly gruesome deaths. Ultimately, the real question becomes whether or not Wendy and Kevin can save their classmates and themselves from impending doom, before it is too late.

The Director.
Final Destination 3 is directed by James Wong, who is probably best known for co-producing around 40 episodes of the X-Files TV series with Chris Carter. James was trying to make slightly different addition to the Final Destination series as the first and second films were connected with the same characters and relationships. This third film is full of new characters and is to show that the plan of death effects everyone everywhere. James was originally asked to direct the second film but he was too busy doing another film.

The Plot

During her schools graduation day party at their local theme park, Wendy has a premonition of the rollercoaster crashing, with her and all of her friends on it, much like the previous films, so she gets off the rollercoaster with half of her classmates in tow to because as a fight breaks out between them. The coaster then starts and her premonition comes true, everyone on the coaster, including her boyfriend Jason, die. Wendy along with her classmate Kevin, whose girlfriend also died in the crash, realise that they have cheated death and the its working its way back through everyone that got off of the coaster.

My Opinion
I really enjoyed this film actually, the plot is a bit dull i'll admit, and the cast are pretty much nobodies, none of them particularly stood out, but they were good enough for this film. If you have seen the other two films the you'll like this one. The deaths are a lot more gory and the chain reaction that leads to them isn't as ridiculously long. Its totally separate from the first two films, although there is a reference to this, happening before, a few years back.

Some of the special features are really cool, there's one that allows you to change the course of the film by picking each persons fate, this was new to me id never seen a feature like this before.

I wouldn't say this film was in any way scary and its actually quite funny in places, the choice of some songs and some of the visuals. I would recommend it to anyone who liked the first two films and i would go and see the fourth if they made one.
