Sean Lock was unknown to me really when I first watched 15 Storeys High.

If you have watched '8 out of ten cats' on channel 4 you will have definitaly seen him on that over the last few years, as he is one of the team captain's . Also you may have seen him when he was hosting 'TV Heaven,Telly Hell '... which was a funny show. You will probably know a bit about Sean Lock's style of humor already if you have seen him on those shows. I think his humor is quite dry which people tend either to get or not!. If you like his type of humor you will find plenty like it in '15 Storeys High'.

I first saw this series on tv. (I think it was late night on BBC 2 after or around the time that 'The Office' was being shown first time around ) I used to stay up each week especially to watch it ,which is quite unusual for me.

Sean Lock both wrote and stars in this offbeat, surreal and even perhaps dark weirdness at times situation comedy.

The first episode is where you will be introduced to a rundown flat located on a 15th floor high riser. Quickly you learn that Vince (Sean Lock) has just taken on Errol(Benedict Wong) as his new lodger.

The two characters really compliment each other in their oddness, Vince is not the easiest of characters to relate too ,he has intimacy issues shall we say, and very soon after Errol moves in Vince wonders if he has picked the right person for his new flat mate and he also quickly realizes that his sofa is just to small for 2 people to sit on, after all he needs to be a least an arms length away from human contact at any given time- it would seem, as the sofa in fact would suffice as its a 2 seater! Anyway he decides to sell the sofa in the first episode. And all doesn't go as smoothly as Vince would like . Things or should we say people get a little to close for Vince's comfort. And to think that most of these troubles could have been avoided if only he hadn't lost his supermarket loyalty card!! There are plenty of laughs watching the person who comes to look at and buy the sofa ...

During this series you will see goings on from some of the neighbors living in this tower block and believe me you will see all kinds of people getting up to all manner of things . The humor throughout this series is very odd ,surreal, strange and quite downbeat really(it would be depressing if it wasn't funny) . If you are anything like me you will not be able to stop yourself from laughing and laughing quite hard in some places. Some things are just simply so ridiculous you have to laugh at them for that alone.

There is so much crammed into each episode which are around 30 mins long. And although there are only 6 episodes in this series it doesn't feel like its too short when you watch it.

Some of my favorite moments from this series are :

Errol goes to the bathroom and suddenly has the urge to rip wallpaper of the walls and he strips off some quite large areas...... He quickly stuffs the evidence down the back of his pants/trousers and keeps his back to the wall so as not to get caught out when speaking to Vince...Shortly after ,Vince uses the bathroom . He takes a look around and starts to look puzzled. He calls to Errol loudly ...and Errol answers, only to be asked by Vince if he has seen his toothbrush?.....Vince quickly spots it and says ...'Its ok I found it' (or words to that effect). Errol then goes on to offer to decorate the bathroom for Vince so Vince never actually realized what damage /mess Errol had caused in the end.

In another episode Vince's neighbor is in a bit of a situation as someone has grassed him up to the RSPCA because he has been keeping a pony in his flat. Turns out the guy had split with his wife and is worried that his daughter will stop visiting him if the pony is taken away etc etc .... It is a very funny episode ,Just for having the pony in the flat it is funny .. there are some great scenes which will have you laughing in this one -especially when Vince is whispering a conversation to the pony as if he is actually talking to it and expecting it to answer while its owner is at the door trying to get rid of the animal welfare officer.

Some of the episodes just simply cut to a scene from another of the flats from the tower block. The people in these scenes are not related to Vince and Errol they are just in the episodes for added surreal weirdness and laughs. Their are a couple of full grown men who are obviously brothers still living at home with Mum and they are often playing a table sports game and all of a sudden you hear the mum shout to tell them that she's made them juice or something ..they drop everything and go get it. Then there is a guy who makes relaxation tapes for a living (that's funny)..but you have to watch to see why! . There are so many funny situations going on in other peoples flats, some are a bit rude(not too rude though) some are just stupid ,all kinds really...

You will get to see Vince at work and also Errol's making of personal recordings/messages which he does on a regular basis to send home to his large odd family(he does that instead of a phone call or letter). You also get to see Errol playing back one of the recordings that his family sent to him as well, and just sitting here writing about it is making me laugh -thats probably one of my favorite funny bits in the series But believe me there are quite a few.

I have only mentioned a few of my favorite bits from the series but thats just to try and give you an idea of the style of humor to expect.

There were 2 series made of ' 15 Storeys High' But as of yet I have only seen series one . I hope to get hold of the 2nd series in the future and I definitaly recommend this to anyone who likes comedy that is a little odder then mainstream comedy ,something quite surreal and even dark in some places though not dark like scary just dark like weird .

Episodes included are:

1. The Sofa

2. The Model

3. Blue Rat

4. Pool Kids

5. Ice Queen

6. Dead Swan
