======== Fifteen & Pregnant ============== This is a film based on a true story.
Tina Spangler (Kirsten Dunst of Spiderman, Mona Lisa Smile fame) is a 15 year old schoolgirl who finds herself pregnant after making love to her boyfriend Ray (Daniel Kountz) Before he finds out she is pregnant with his child he dumps her with the excuse he needs to spend more time concentrating on his football.
Her parents are separated and she has a younger brother and sister who are all affected by the split…they all seem to be reaching out for attention in some way. Her mother (Park Overall) is struggling to raise her family. Her family is falling to bits around her and everyone seems to be against the idea of her keeping her baby. But that is what she decides to do!
Her best friend Laurie is 18 (also a teenage mum to 2 yr old Alison) asks her to consider adoption/abortion as she knows how tough it can be being a single teenage mum, but Tina is 100% against the idea as she has had a very strong Christian upbringing….her mother agrees with her and they decide that they will keep the baby and do their best by it.
Will the pregnancy drive her family even further apart or could it possibly bring them closer together?
This film brings out all the emotions of a family separated and the joys/pains of pregnancy and birth.

=== My Opinion ========= I guess the title of this movie says it all…..Fifteen and Pregnant! It really sums up what this film is about, It goes through a lot of emotions about a family break up and how it affects not only the parents but also the children. The youngest kid…goes off the rails slightly, middle kid overeats to compensate for feeling unloved, eldest kid turns to her boyfriend for affection….who is a bad influence on her, seduces her and gets her pregnant, then he dumps her and she is left holding the baby. To be honest this film is nothing new, everything in it is so predictable, You can see everything coming before it happens and I was a bit disappointed in the whole film.
The acting on all parts was also disappointing, I've seen Kirsten Dunst in a few films now and this has got to be her worst performance yet. It all seemed rather forced and false, but then again perhaps it was the actual storyline which was giving it that feeling.
I'm not saying it is a rubbish film, just not one I'd recommend buying, but maybe one which you'd perhaps watch on a Sunday afternoon if it came on the TV and nothing else was on?
The good thing about this film is that it is realistically portraying teenage pregnancy so would be good for teenagers to watch, especially if they are thinking of getting pregnant to trap a boy!
I'm glad to say I didn't actually buy this, my mum did! I just borrowed it….otherwise I would have wasted my money.

This 1997 made for TV drama, sees a young Kirsten Dunst as 15 year old Tina Spangler. Tina finds out that she is pregnant at 15 years old - unfortunately her boyfriend abandons her and so she is left alone. She turns to her mother for help and support. Tina has to decide what to do - keep the baby or have an abortion. She makes the decision to keep the baby, much to her siblings' embarassment and against her mother's wishes. This is already a troubled ... ...affair and he decides to move out of the family home. Tina finds that as her stomach grows, her friends at school begin to drift away. However, she makes a new friend Laurie who had a baby two years earlier (when she was 17). Laurie not only shows her how hard and exhausting teen motherhood can be, but she also shows her what she can look forward to. This is a moving story, that shows the courage of one young girl who goes against her family and ...

Tina Spangler is just another happy kid at fourteen. At fifteen she's pregnant and faces the choices of abortion, adoption or the lonely life of a single parent. Abandoned by her boyfriend she has only one person to turn to - her mother, a single parent herself. What starts out as a hopeless tale could re-unite this shattered family. Based on a true story.
