DVD Description
This seedy saga of pre-Disney Times Square stars Tom Berenger as Matt Rossi, an ex-boxer and stripper talent agent who finds his life closing in around him when a psychopathic martial artist starts stabbing and slashing his girls on their way home from nightclubs. His former girlfriend and star dancer, Loretta (Melanie Griffith), goes back on heroin after her girlfriend Leila (Rae Dawn Chong) is slashed up in a brutal subway attack. As fear grips the city, Rossi begins a one-man vendetta to catch the maniac, contending with a possible mob war, an Italian-hating black cop (Billy Dee Williams), and his remorse over killing an opponent in the ring some years before. Director Abel Ferrara packs this neon-drenched morality tale with lots of nudity and some pretty nasty violence. Viewers in the mood for a melange of karate fights, boxing, stripping, mobsters, and drugs will want to run and grab this sturdy little sleaze classic. Michael V. Gazzo (Frankie Pentangeli from THE GODFATHER II) appears as a strip club owner, and David Johansen of the New York Dolls sings the theme song.

Review: "...Originality and visual distinction....Bright, hard-edged..." (New York Times, p.13, 16/02/1985)
Advantages: beautiful cinematography Disadvantages: dull as dishwater
...I have to say that I haven't been so eye wateringly bored since sitting through the equally tedious 'Kill Bill'. I'm afraid that a soulless stylish gore fest is not enough to keep my attention and I didn't make it to the third and final story. Who knows, maybe at this point it became an astute and insightful look at the human condition and I have wholley mis-judged the whole escapade but I'm afraid I didn't have the will to continue for fear I might slip into a coma. If you like watching dispensible caracatures leap about in the interests of fulfilling Tarantino's self indulgent fantasies then good for you. Watch out for Bruce Willis doing a passable impression of a hot cross bun....

Advantages: great script, great story and top class directing Disadvantages: there aren't enough special features on the disc, wait for the special edition
...City of God is in my opinion one of the best films of 2003 and is the best foreign film 2003
Based on a true story set in the crime ridden parts in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil, a place where you live to survive and the only way out is death or fear of death while trying to escape. Drugs is they way of life, money and power is the motivation. The main character rocket is based on a photographer, living in this parts of Brazil the place they call "city of god", who risked his life to take the perfect picture.
A great film, this film is outstanding and could contend with the big budget gangster films of the past; this will be one of the classic films and is must for any DVD collection, considering you like violent gangster films.
This is a very violent film and it has a lot of sexual references i don’t recommend that you buy...

Advantages: Comedy Disadvantages: not suitable for teenagers
...Monsters inc reflects an interesting turn of how children normally percept monsters. As many parents are aware of children always have a fear of Monstors. Not only does monstors inc provide a comical portrayal of monsters it also shows how they are infact scared of children. This hilarious production directed Peter Docter shows a story about a monstor trying to provide energy for his city as well as competing with other monstors. Along with his companion Mike wizoulski they find out the hidden dark side of the electrical world. This film is suitable for all the family and a must see. Created by other features such as Toy story this film is guarenteed to be a once in a lifetime oppertunity to divulge into the warabouts of a fantasy world reflectuing the issues and life styles of monstors....
