A crime and tragedy brings con, Dom Toretto, and cop, Brian O'Conner, back together again in LA where exotic women and fast cars prevail the streets, and old conflicts are resurfaced as the pair come face to face. Both have their own reasons to become involved with illegal racing, drugs and with a powerful enemy but the pair must work together and learn to trust each other in a bid to bring the enemy down.

Fast & Furious sees the return of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, along with their leading ladies, to the fourth and final film in the series. Fast cars, beautiful women and angry men once again grace our screens for another action-packed film.
The special effects in this were simply amazing. At the very beginning, we are plunged straight into the action with a car chase in a heist and just in the first 5 minutes I was already hooked from the incredible special effects which were created with exploding and crashing vehicles and amazing stunts. The rest of the film followed along the same lines and, throughout, the special effects, stunts, action and car racing was all brilliant. It's advanced a lot from the first film and even the car races were much more powerful, dangerous and effective. Although the main theme in the film is cars, this isn't a film for only car lovers. There's also lots of romance involved and the story revolves more around the action rather than purely car racing.
The characters were all the same as before and were once again played very well. Vin Diesel came back as the bad guy and con artist - with his huge and very intimidating bulk he makes a very realistic baddie and someone who you would indeed be very wary of. Even though he is categorised as a 'baddie' we still like his character as he is also portrayed as being a nice guy and in this film we sympathise with him and want him to come out on top. Paul Walker who stars as good cop gone bad is just as active (and good looking) as ever and puts in a great performance at trying to wrestle with whether he is a good cop or bad cop. His love interest re-sparks with the lovely Mia, who just happens to be Dom's sister, and this adds a bit of reality and romance to the film.
It would be helpful if you've seen all the previous Fast & Furious films as obviously the story carries on and there are a lot of references to other things which have happened previously, but it's not a necessity to see have them. I think I've only ever seen the very first one when it first came out and I don't remember it at all really and yet I was fine watching this one. I did ask hubby a couple of questions along the way about what had happened before, but it wasn't essential to know this and I picked up the story easily enough.
There wasn't really much of a different storyline from any of the other films as it followed roughly along the same lines, involving lots of car races and chases and good cop going after the bad guy and then having to work together. Nothing new was really done here so those who have seen and remember all the others may find it a little tiresome. Because I didn't remember the others though, I found it very enjoyable and it was very action-packed, thrilling and exciting to watch and I enjoyed this a lot more than I remember enjoying the first.

Advantages: Plenty of action, nice effects, Vin Diesel, no need to think too hard. Disadvantages: Not really any, unless you're expecting something that it's not.
