Fast And Furious (DVD)

Advantages: Plenty of action, nice effects, Vin Diesel, no need to think too hard.
Disadvantages: Not really any, unless you're expecting something that it's not.

...could come up with was Fast and Furious. I have not seen the earlier films in the franchise, but knew enough about them to know what to expect. Plenty of action, car chases, mindless fun, Vin Diesel, and brains left in the lobby. I was not disappointed, in fact it was better than I expected. The film starts with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and others, including girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) in Mexico, carrying out a hijack on a tanker road ...
...spectacular pyrotechnics. I was also seriously impressed with the sound at the new Showcase Cinema at Highcross in Leicester, at some points the whole place seemed to be shaking. We later learn that Letty has been killed back in the US, and Toretto returns to try to find her killer, and bring him to "justice" (IE kill him). ...would have thought that the Fast and Furious series of films would reach a fourth installment? The first one was an entertaining one with some impressive driving supported by a good plot. The second featured a downgraded version, with the third enjoyable but very much run of the mill. So, it may have been time to call it a day. ...high speed cars and the fast paced plot, but they still need to uphold their end and keep the focus firmly on the plot. They do this perfectly, and with a strong supporting cast including Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, the solidity runs right through. The special effects must be mentioned. ...the fast and the furious 2 when it comes out late next year but without Vin Diesal it might not be as good. If you are a big fan of Vin you can catch him in pitch black 2 and XXX 2 in the next few years. This film manages on a small budget of around $30m to make it look like a $60m production. "The Making of The Fast and the Furious" - Packed full of the usual behind the scene footage, interviews and general information. At 18 minutes long it is very informative and manages to stay focussed rather than drifting off in to a mere promotional feature. Advantages: Great No-Brainer

...Once again the Vamp?s writing about one of his finds in this Tuesday?s ?buy 3 DVD?s for £25? star-find - this time being the speed-freak thriller - ?The Fast and The Furious?, a movie that I?ve wanted to buy for a long time but all the time I?ve begrudged paying full price for it for a while as the words ?mixed reviews? comes to mind. But now, its been added to the looooooooong line of discs that have found their way into my grubby little mits and although it isn?t the greatest of movies - its a great no-brainer, and we all know about my love for no-brainers. Quick idea of the storyline for you all then - Its LA - there?s an underground street-racing racket going on, the cops want to get to the bottom of this - but more importantly they want to get to the bottom of a gang hijacking Trucks at high speed and half-inching their load...
