In this thrill-filled live-action Marvel Comics adaptation, director Tim Story (BARBER SHOP) balances comedy, romantic intrigue, special effects, high action, and even scientific...
more...trivia for a rounded FANTASTIC FOUR. Here, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing come together on a space mission that goes wrong. The ship's owner - who later transforms into evil Doctor Doom - refuses to abort the mission during a solar storm, which electrifies the ship and its entire crew, causing radical changes to their DNA. Back on earth, the transformed 'heroes' adjust to their new powers, which are specific to their personalities. Mister Fantastic, who lacks assertion, has stretchy limbs of rubber. Invisible Woman, who loves Fantastic but thinks he can't see her for who she really is, does a disappearing act. The Human Torch, an immature guy who is brimming with energy, can burst into flames. And finally, The Thing, a great friend who is as solid as a rock, actually turns into one - and loses his wife due to his weighty disposition. Holing up in Fantastic's scientific lab where they run experiments on themselves in hopes of changing back to normal, the crew learns that Doctor Doom - who is so power hungry that he turns into metal and is able to conduct electrical currents - poses a serious threat. The heroes quickly master their abilities and channel their scientific smarts for one truly fantastic five-way face-off. Visually, action sequences give way to tranquil interludes such as the New York City skyline with the Fantastic's lab glowing atop a skyscraper, while plot-wise, the interplay between the characters brings a human element to the film, with some touching moments from The Thing.

Before we talk about the film itself lets talk about blu-ray. Blu ray discs can hold up to around 50gb which is a huge improvement from the standard dvd which can hold around 5 at the max. Blu rays work by using an incredibly thin laser to read the disc therefore more information can be stored on the disc resulting in a much higher picture and sound quality. Blu ray dvds will only work on a blu-ray dvd player or PS3 which is connected up to a HDTV to give it's maximum quality.

The movie itself. Acting quality is great throughout the movie with no edgey parts. The actors are quite well-known and don't let the movie down. The special effects also do not do any harm to the movie being quite a new movie the CG in this film is incredibly good and helps maintain the reality of this movie.

However although the acting and graphics are good the storyline is a bit scetchy. It takes almost half the movie for the action to begin which I believe would have been a grave mistake if this was the only Fanasitc Four film. However now that there is going to be the next movie the Silver Surfer the first movie makes a bit more sense. But still looking at only this movie it is a bit cheesey.

I myself thought the storyline was lame and didn't like it. I enjoyed watching the movie the first time however I would not watch it again therefore I believe there is no reason why I would buy this dvd therefore I think this is a movie you should rent or wait until it comes out on tv.
