As the theme tune to this series says "Lucky there's a family guy" and it has to be said I did feel bery lucky when i heard that the lovely people at fox had started remaking family guy again. Although it has alot to thank the simpsons for (Peter Griffin is just a fatter, pink version of homer) this cartoon truley is a cult classic.
However maybe the description "Cult" is a very accurate description of this series. As you may or may not be aware this series has never had the same kind of TV time as other similar programmes (futurama, south park) yet family guy box sets continually top the DVD charts. For anybody unaware of the settings, the griffin family live in CoHog. Peter and louis are the parents with kids chris, meg and stewie, a talking baby that wants to rule the world and kill his mum. O and thier pet dog is a talking, alcoholic and they have a crazy monkey in chris's closet. Now this may sound very bizarra and to be honest it is, but you soon learn to understand the hilerious character relationships and more importantly the comedic style of the show.
This particualr series is just as funny as the previous three and had me laughing out loud constantly. The writters are showing no signs of faultering and the gags are as fresh now as they were three series ago.
With 13 episodes over three discs this definetly represents a high laughs per pound ratio and should be enjoyed by existing fans and new viewers alike (although series 2 is my absolute favourite). The series comes boxed in three slim line cases that are far more practical and stylish than the cumbersome efort series three was packaged in.
If anything i would say that the one down side to this DVD is the extra as they are basic and sterotypical of most comedy series (including commentry, picture book deleted scenes and short interviews). However as the series is "brand new" to DVD as opposed to being seen on TV first, the extra seem less improtant because the actual episodes have a far bigger impact.
Overall I would rate the product at 9/10 ROLL ON SEIES 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
