Firstly, a little background on the show for those not familiar with it. Family Guy is a cartoon, and is basically a cross between South Park and The Simpsons. It's not as dirty as the former but not as clean as the latter, and arguably funnier than them both. Now, the show centres around the Griffin family - Father Peter, Mother Lois, Daughter Meg, two sons Chris and Stewie and Brian, the family dog - from Quahog, Rhode Island.

Peter is quite slow at taking in information, and is pretty much a big kid (listen to his child-like laugh for proof). He's rather slow at taking in information, and horrible at defusing situations. He's most likely to be found drinking beer with his buddies Joe, Cleveland and Quagmire. Lois teaches the piano, when she finds time away from housework and looking after her baby Stewie, who seems to have developed a dangerous dislike for her. Meg, the eldest of the children, is the typical teenage girl and as such strives for acceptance from her peers. Chris (unfortunately) takes after his father, in that he's already shown himself to be rather dim and lacking of common sense. His biggest fear is the evil monkey living in his closet ("he wasn't always evil!"). Brian is a dog like no other - he can talk. He's Peter's best friend and by far the most sane member of the family, although he has developed a penchant for alcohol.

Outside the family are other key characters such as the afore-mentioned Quagmire (sex addict with an attraction towards Lois), Cleveland (neighbour) and Joe (disabled and a Cop), as well as Adam West (Mayor) and Death (Death).

If you're a fan of the family Guy series then this DVD really becomes a 'must have'. I didn't find it as funny or as addictive as the previous 3 seasons, but it's still brilliant in it's own unique way. The DVD contains only 13 episodes which hit me as a disappointment, but there are more than enough laughs packed into them. The DVD extras aren't exactly brilliant, but there are deleted scenes and optional commentaries from the series creater and writers, which may be of interest to others. If you're easily offended then this definitely isn't for you, but as a generalistion, would make a good gift for most teenage boys. I'd recommend you watch the previous 3 seasons beforehand, but it isn't a necessity to fully enjoy it. It can be purchased from most shops selling DVDs from around £16.99.

North By North Quahog

Lois shouts out someone else's name while in bed with Peter, so they decide a second honeymoon is needed to bring the spark back into the marriage. Peter poses as Mel Gibson to gain access to his hotel room where they happen to find a copy of his upcoming movie (Passion of The Christ 2). Peter steals the movie but then Mel Gibson kidnaps Lois demanding it back.

Fast Times At Buddy Cianci Jr. High

Brian starts off a new career teaching at Chris' school, meanwhile Chris falls in love with his new teacher, although she makes it clear to him they can only be together if Chris kills her husband.

Blind Ambition

Peter's friends recieve recognition for various deeds, this leads Peter to realise that he's nothing to be proud of. He then decides the path to fame starts with holding the record of swallowing the most nickels, however, this only leaves him blind.

Don't Make Me Over

Meg gets a spectacular new makeover. Peter tries to start up a band, but when their first gig becomes a disaster, the newly improved Meg has to step in and impress the crowd, leading to the family being signed to a record company.

The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire

Peter walks in on Loretta cheating on Cleveland with a mystery man. When Peter finds out it was Quagmire he decides to tell Cleveland, who takes the news surprisingly well. At first.

Petarded

Peter's performance at games night leaves him convinced he's a genius. When he takes a test of the MacArthur Genius Grant, he finds out that he's mentally handicapped. When the kids get taken away because Peter isn't mentally competent enough, he decides to do something about it.

Brian The Bachelor

When Brian is chosen as a contestant on a tv show he falls in love with 'the Bachelorette'. Back home, Christ gets his first pimple (named Doug, if you must know) but it soon starts tempting Chris into doing naughty things.

8 Simple Rules For Buying My Teenage Daughter

When Peter falls in debt to Mort Goldman, he decides to pay it off by selling Meg to their family. Meanwhile, Stewie gets a new baby-sitter, and he starts to develop feelings towards her.

Breaking Out Is Hard To Do

Lois becomes a kleptomaniac and gets arrested. When Peter and the family come to visit, they decide to break her out by hiding her in Peter's mouth. On the run from the law, the family start a-fresh in 'Asian town'.

Model Misbehaviour

Lois' dream of becoming a model is finally fulfilled, and Stewie starts his own business, with Brian being his first employee.

Peter's Got Woods

Brian starts dating a teacher, which causes a rift with Peter so he replaces him with new best-friend James Woods, who is in Quahog because of Brian's suggestion of changing the high-school name.

The Perfect Castaway

Peter and friends decide to go fishing but get caught in a storm and are left on a desert island. After being stranded for months Peter returns home only to find Lois with her new husband.

Jungle Love

When Chris learn's of a highschool tradition he runs off to a South American jungle. Peter's search for a new job doesn't exactly start well, and eventually he joins Chris in South America.

I'm now aware of the repetition in the second paragraph by the way. I can't believe I missed it when reading over!
