This is series 3 of Family Guy - the show bought back from the dead after strong DVD sales persuaded FOX to recommission it onto US screens.

THE SHOW ITSELF!
The show is all about the hijinx of the Griffin Family: Peter - the lazy, dim witted father, Lois - the loving wife and caring mother to their children: Chris - the simple-minded son, Meg - the daughter everyone ignores and Stewie - the infant son who dreams of ruling the world....or at least desposing of his "arch-enemy" mother! Along with the Griffins is their lovable yet alcoholic pooch Brian who seems to be the most educated in the family.
Not only do you meet the Griffins, you also meet Peter's friends and neighbours: Joe Swanson - the strong yet disabled Cop (imagine Rambo in a wheelchair), Cleveland Brown - the slow talking and friendly drinking buddy and Glenn Quagmire - commerical pilot, single, sex pest!

The show mainly uses flashbacks and cut-aways to make jokes about US culture, politics/world events, TV/film etc. Although funny these sometimes do not have any relevance to the story line and therefore only used to raise a laugh. As with all comedies making jokes on US culture, this can be overlooked by international audiences as they would not understand the joke.
However this should not deter anyone from watching the show as there will be plenty of laughs for the mature audience.

I also suggest to new audiences that they start watching from the first season, as it will help the audience get used to the program and its format. Also there are some jokes later in the series that are established in previous episodes as well as this lot.

The show itself is mainly voiced by its creator (McFarlane - voices Peter, Brian, Stewie among others) along with Mila Kunis (Meg), Seth Green (Chris), Patrick Warburton (Joe Swanson), Mike Henry (Cleveland Brown, greased up deaf guy and others) and Alex Borstein (Lois, Loretta Brown etc.)

This 3 disc set has 21 episodes, from "The Thin White Line" to "Family Guy Viewer Mail 1", which includes Brian getting addicted to cocaine after his career as a drug sniffer dog then directing porn videos, Meg gets a job at Channel 5 TV alongside Tom Tucker, the family go into the Witness Protection Program, Stewie starts acting and many more!

As with other Family Guy DVDs, there are not many special features therefore it can be a bit of a let down for fans who want that little bit more. However this should not be a deterent for anyone interested in buying it and there are a large number of episodes to keep you going. So you get plenty bang for your buck!
